I live in *******. In Dec, I found a 4runner for sale on FB marketplace in *****. It was being sold by Idaho Auto Investments. The 2008 Limited 4runner had 111K miles and was listed for ******. I asked about the condition of the vehicle and was told it was great and that it had been looked over by their ******** as well as a second ******** that a former potential buyer had hired. I asked for pictures of any rust on the undercarriage. I was sent photos that did not show issues and was told it looked great. They agreed to pick me up from the airport on Friday Dec 27th and then I could drive it home on Saturday. Before I purchased the vehicle, I told them that I wasn't interested if it was needing any kind of repairs. I was assured that it was a great deal on a sound vehicle. I paid ******. When I was driving it to my motel, I noticed a concerning sound. I reached out to the dealer and they offered to have their ******** look at it the next day. The next day came and their ******** was unavailable. I was hesitant to leave, but needed to get home for work. ******, the owner included a 3 month limited extended warranty that covered towing, transmission or engine issues. I made an appointment with my ******** to check on the things that the warranty covered. He got me in March. He told me that there were many issues that it was unsafe to drive. An accident wouldve been 'catastrophic. The frame is rusted, the axels have cracks, the exhaust system is rusted straight through along with a whole list of issues. I reached out to the dealer and explained the situation. The person I worked with directly, *******, no longer worked for them. The employee that answered the phone promised they would not leave me hanging with the issue. The next ***, ****** answered and suggested helping me sell it from *******. I don't feel ethical selling this vehicle personally. I feel he should return the money and take the car back. He has since ignored my attempts for contact

I am rejecting this response because:

I agreed to purchase a safe vehicle. I was told that the undercarriage looked great and was photographed by their mechanic. The photographs sent to me avoided showing the problems.

When my mechanic looked at the vehicle, he deemed it unsafe to drive because of cracks in the frame.

I would have been happy to own this car if it had been advertised as they advertised this to me. The price that I talked to the employee about was the price that I bought this vehicle for. It was not lowered on my account.

The owner said that they would have a conversation with me about the situation, but continually avoided and ignored my calls and emails and attempts to communicate.

I have no choice but to file a lawsuit since there is complete lack of accountability or cooperation from this business.

      Sincerely,

      ****** *****

Thank you for the message. Our manager did not respond to any texts on 12/12/24 as they should have under our business communication positive practices. Then our other manager ** noticed this once this BBB message was sent on 12/30/24.

Our GM reviewed the attached documents, but noticed that there were no signatures accepting these documents binding in full per policy mutually.

Therefore, our company ** called the customer and let him know the $500 deposit paid was being returned via check in the mail to him asap. We have attached a copy of the check wrote to the customer. This refund in full check was wrote and mailed out on 1/3/2025. The customer was satisfied with our text and phone conversation for this in full and so are we.

We apologize for the confusion that our manager originally might have caused. Both parties are satisfied in full all around. Thank you for the opportunity to make it right together.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********. The refund check was received 8 days later.

The response alludes to acceptance of resolution received in a text. There was no such text received from the business. I texted them my address. They responded with a Thank you

      Sincerely,
