The bid was for bathroom tile work and bathroom flooring to be installed. The bathroom tile has been poorly installed: there are large "lips" in the transitions from one tile to the next, there are chips in the tile and broken tiles that are just to be "filled" with caulk or grout or a larger plate used to cover it. The caulking around the fixtures has not been completed. The shower has not been used and the grout is coming loose/falling out. The caulking around the base of the tub and fixtures has not been done. The flooring was installed but was removed by the company due to the cracks and dents in the flooring from the poor installation. The vent was moved but haphazardly patched back in. The new flooring has not been installed. The initial quote stated the Bathtub tile would be $1694 and the flooring would be $500. and then it was the Bathtub tile was $2266 and the flooring was $500. The floor is still not done and the bathtub is not finished and was is done is very poorly done as even stated by **** co-owner, "looks like that because i was tired of messing with it and we had that bigger job going that I needed to get done".I have received e-mails stating the job has been finished and that the payment is past due and threats of a lien being put on my home if not paid in full or if a payment plan is reached but if payment is late then again a threat of a lien. The company is treating to use the "Mechanics Lien" stating the job was been completed more than 90 days.

Describe the product or service your complaint involves.
       tile & flooring install

What was the date of the purchase or lease?
      09/13/2024

      What was the amount paid?
      $0.00

What is the description of the complaint, including names, dates and actions.
Received an email from the contractor asking for full payment or he is going to put a lien on my home, for completed work. However the work is not done and what has been done has damage or not installed correctly and grout is cracking out, gaps without grout or caulking, holes and chips along with over and under hang in the tile.
The charges they are wanting paid is for more than what was discussed.
Tile was $1694.00 materials not included (I purchased all materials)
Flooring $500.00 rip out and install however is was damaged, the partner contractor ripped out the flooring and stated there would be no charge for the flooring install do to all of the damage and problems with the hole that was cut into the flooring to move a vent which was shoddy and not secure if stepped on it would fall through.
I purchased the flooring which I am out the money on since it was damaged and ripped out not able to return but, one box which the store said they would help me out with otherwise they would not have.
There were several excuses and blaming on why the tile was damaged or install issues. These could have been avoided. The partner contractor did work for me before and it was very good work, that is the reason I reached out to him again.
I am willing to pay a portion for the labor on the tile but, not all of it since the tile and labor will cost to replace and complete
I have pictures to show the incomplete and completed work.
I did let them know at the time it was being worked on I would pay when it was completed. It is not completed however as I stated I would pay a portion of the tile labor and wash my hands of it and know not to use this company again.

Explain a fair resolution of the complaint.
I would be willing to pay $1,000.00 for the labor of the tile which was $1,694.00
and use the remainder $694.00 to purchase tile and find a contractor to complete and repair
the $500.00 was not done and was stated by the contractor I would not be charged for it.

The following is a rebuttal to a complaint against Resolute Building Company on (11-20-2024) by ******** *******. The complaint is highlighted below.

We will provide some quick backstory information on Taleetha. She is the sister of a good friend of **** (Co-Owner). She had asked **** directly if he could help her with some stuff at her house outside of Resolute Building Company. There was only a verbal contract between **** and Taleetha with the understanding that he would do this work when he had time between company-contracted projects. The initial estimate is supplied below the complaint. **** had only agreed to install the tile, and that's all we asked to be paid for (highlighted in red). When **** started the work, the drywall had not been completed (by a third party), nor were the walls waterproofed. Taleetha had bought the wrong tub, and her plumber needed to rip out the sheetrock, so **** redid the sheetrock and waterproofed the walls, even though it was not our responsibility.

When she had the tub installed and plumbed, she was mad at her plumber for having to rip out the sheetrock, even though both the plumber and **** had told her not to install the sheetrock until after the tub was installed. ****** business partner, ***, had to help install the tile because they were running out of time and needed to complete the project. Although **** started the project in May, it was not finished until the middle of October due to delays caused by the client (e.g., drywall needed to be installed, the bathroom needed to be painted, the floor needed to be installed, a floor vent needed to be moved, or she was working). These are just some of the problems **** endured during the project. **** moved her floor vent and installed her floor as a favor, but she was not charged for the work, as she was a sister to a good friend. The tile flooring was damaged due to a manufacturing defect, and **** did not notice it because every tile was like that, and **** thought that was the look of the floor. ( **** believed it was a clearance item but did not ask her about it.)

**** has done work for her before, and it was the same issue as this time; Taleetha told **** she fired the original tile guy because she was not happy with the quality of work and would not pay them. The tile is complete and has been for a month. When asked to be paid, she kept stalling and asking **** to perform more work. At this time, Taleetha was sent an invoice for the tile and the drywall, but there was no response. **** sent her a second invoice, but still no response to the invoice; however, she asked if **** would move the vent and install the floor, which **** did, but she was afraid of mold being under the subfloor. Then she mentioned the damaged floor and asked **** to tear it out, saying she would return it to where she purchased it. Again, **** asked her personally to pay the original invoice, and she said, "I have no money; I had to pay the plumber." With this all being said, **** is still willing to do the extra work as she is the sister to a dear friend of ******, but not until **** is paid for the tile work that was completed almost two months ago.

**** is also curious to know if she has filed other complaints on other contractors so she doesn't have to pay them.

      Thank you
