      3.16.2023 my son had foot surgery in ***** SurgiCenter by his podiatrist. We had pre-approval from our insurance for the ********************* The day of surgery we signed paperwork if our insurance didnt cover anything we would pay it. Seems fair, yes Ill cover what the remainder of the bill is. Plus if I didnt sign then my son cant have surgery.2 weeks later I get a call the insurance isnt paying for the hardware and I need to pay the $3,250 bill. (He needs this surgery in June on the other foot so wed owe $6,500 in hardware)I said that seems odd but Id research it. I found the preapproval letter that the insurance would cover the hardware. The billing person said they dont bill it with the surgery because we only charge what it costs ** and if we billed that to the insurance it would be discounted.I called our insurance and the full bill hadnt been submitted on 3.31.2023 and to give 2 weeks to review it.5.2.2023 and I get a call from *****************************, billing for ***** SurgiCenter, that its not paid. After talking with the insurance everything that was billed was covered. The surgery center didnt bill for the hardware. To be an approved in network provider, ***** SurgiCenter has a contract with them that they are not allowed to bill me outside of the one main bill. It has to go through the insurance. (I was on hold while my insurance called ******* to explain they were not allowed to bill me per the contract)******* called to remind me that I signed a paper that I would pay (I feel like they were trying to trick me). I said yes, but per the legal contract they were not allowed to do that. They were breaking their contract with my insurance. ******* said okay, they wouldnt bill me, but said my sons second surgery would have to be at the hospital and not at their facility where our surgeon normally operates. We are being penalized because they tried to go around the legal agreement with our insurance.That contract proceeds everything.
