On 3/7/25 at 1030 am I got gas for my car at the Chevron usa-owned by Oasis stop n go on **************************. I got aprox 56 dollars worth of gas. Shortly after leaving I noticed on my apple wallet that I was charged $200. I returned later in the day to see what went wrong. I was told by 2 of the eployees that charging that amount was done at the corporate level to make sure they get paid and I would be reimbursed the difference with the next 3 days. This is totally unaceptable and has never happened before. They said I need to come inside to pay to avoid that happening again. How can they get away with "stealing' my money. I do not understand. This has to be illegal and this business needs to be made aware of that fact and consequences imposed.

      Dear *****-

Thank you for your business and for expressing your concerns regarding credit card holds. As a small business owner face-to-face with customers, we too are frustrated with these temporary holds, but understand the reason they are put in place. These temporary holds that are released ***** hours following the transaction are set by bank card issuers. As a small business owner, we have no control or ability to change these holds, we are at the mercy of card issuing banks and Chevron as to what they agree should be the correct hold value for transactions initiated outside at the fuel pump. In this case **************** sets the required $200 temporary hold in conjunction with Chevron Corp. I understand our District Manager, **** ******** spoke with you on 3/13/25 responding to a voice mail you left at our office. **** indicated that she learned after speaking with you, the initial hold placed on you card has since been refunded by your bank and only the $56 fuel transaction charge remains. If you prefer to avoid a hold that is placed by swiping a payment card outside at a fuel pump in the future, you can always pre-pay inside the store to avoid any hold being placed.

We value your business and again understand the frustrations customers experience with the temporary holds banks place. I'm glad the transaction has since settled as is typical and you are only seeing the proper charge for the fuel. If there is anything else we can do to assist, please reach out to our office at ************.

      Sincerely,

      **** ******
