I am out in the freezing cold. *** I called yesterday and scheduled engine replacement. I come in and **** says no. *** told me lies. I let the tow truck go. Now I have to wait in the cold 2 hours for another tow. They owe me.

      Business Response

      Date: 11/18/2024

My name is **** ******* and I am the owner of *******. I am in receipt of your November 13, 2024, correspondence with inquiries concerning a complaint lodged against my business by *. *****. There is no merit to her complaint, and I respond as follows.
A few weeks ago, Ms. ***** came to my automotive repair shop, met with my assistant ***, and stated that she needs a new engine installed in her ***** CRV. She advised that she had obtained the engine from a company known as LKQ. She would buy the engine, have it delivered to us, and we would install it for her. It was explained to her that we do not normally install customers engines and that we would never buy an engine from LKQ. She was also told that we would not guarantee or warranty the engine only that it would be correctly installed in her vehicle.
This past Monday (11/11/24 at 1 :01 pm & 1:16pm) Ms. ***** called twice. The first call was to verify the cost of service for her engine replacement, which I asked ***, the Service Manager, to take. He verified the service costs with me via a telephone call, and then relayed this information to Ms. ****** while I remained on the phone. During the second call, she was inquiring in regards to having her car towed in for the engine replacement. She wanted to know if it were ok to have the vehicle brought in the next day (Tues.11/12/24) and then we would just need to wait a day or two for the engine she procured to be delivered. I told her that I thought it was ok, but I would need her to verify this information with our Service Manager. *** took over the call with ******** and he told her she could have her vehicle dropped any day and that we could do the repairs after we received delivery of her pre-purchased engine He reiterated that the engine itself would not be warranted by us, any & all warranties would be whatever was offered to her through the company that sold her the engine.

On Tues. 11/12/24, via tow, Ms. ***** and her vehicle arrived at my business approximately 1.5 hours after we opened (the local weather was between 55*- 60* Fahrenheit with sunny skies). She came in to speak with me. She said that all he had to do was call LKQ for the engine. He stated that as previously discussed, we would not to be procuring the engine from LKQ for her. If she wanted it from there, she would have to do so herself. She then said that she wanted us to get an engine for her. I told her that I have to call for availability and a price, write the estimate and get back to her by phone. She walked out of the office. After about ***** minutes, when the vehicle needed to be moved because it was blocking a garage door, she was found sitting in the car, so I asked her what she needed. She responded that she was waiting for the price quote. I again explained that I had to contact our vendors to find the correct part & then write it up; this wasn't a quick turn-around and I would call her. I then went to start the car without success. I opened the hood to connect to a battery charger. At this point I also noticed that the radiator was damaged beyond repair and advised her that it must be replaced. She responded that she had one in back & that *** said he'd replace it for free. This was 100% false. At this point I told her that she keeps changing everything and to please take her car somewhere else for repairs. She then pleaded, saying that we could get whatever parts needed with any ******** needed just please just fix her car. I decided that dealing with someone who constantly kept changing everything they said &/or requested was the beginning of a nightmare for us. I told her again that we were no longer interested in her business and that she needed to take her car elsewhere.

I pride myself that my shop has an excellent reputation for integrity and quality vehicle repair. I do not owe Ms. ***** any money.
