On January 15 my SV280B machine was serviced and by MCCann Industries (at the ******** ******** location) due to a failure in a leak in an oil filter that caused oil to leak and spread over the entire interior cabin of the machine. I was advised by **** the service manager that this was a very common and well documented failure. My machine is approx. 2-3 years old with about 200 hours on it and unfortunately I was told the warranty period was over in Dec of 2024. Therefore, I had to pay out of pocket for the repair totaling a cost of $934.67.After picking my machine up from service on 1/17 we had another snow event a week later on 1/23 so I had an opportunity to see how the machine would perform after the repairs have been made. Much to my dismay the machine was smoking and the internal parts were overheating. I immediately shut down the machine and sent a text message to my sales representative at 1:04 am that morning. He said I needed to stop turning the machine off and let it run its course. Now keep in mind I sent him via text message pictures of the problems I was experiencing. I have bought 4 of these machines in the past 2 years and know them well enough to know when something is wrong. He finally decided to come out on site and see what was going on. While turning on the machine and inspecting it the machine caught fire. He immediately shut it off and my employee trailered it back to their shop. . I am not as well versed as a service manager but I would believe that before I would put a machine back into a customers possession that I would check all possible scenarios before returning the machine to the customer. Afterall these technicians are trained to look for these types of problems and need a certain amount of hours to be certified by the manufacturer to work on their equipment as a dealer? In my professional experience with other equipment mfg and their distributors this is usually the case.
