    I asked Midas for a quote on my 2000 ***** muffler I was told verbally $534.48. I was asked to bring in the car before they would order the part(s) and work on the car. I agreed to the price + a minimal additional cost for a control arm. I assumed quotes included cost of labor. Midas asked me for my credit card before working on the car. The work did not start immediately. I was shocked that my total invoice was $939.77. I complained to Midas corporate office in ******, ** regarding the labor cost. The labor was 1 hr $294.50 for the muffler and 1 hr $108.50 for the control arm. I arrived at Midas approximately 3:30-3:45p.m. on 10/20/2023, waited for the work to be completed, betwen ***** minutes. At 4:43 p.m. they processed my credit card for $939.77. I complained to the main office in ******, ** and was told that the cost of parts & labor is "book listed" and I was lucky the job did not take more than an hour. I was charged for 2 hours of labor. I have also complained the noise of the new muffler is as loud as the one replaced and was told that is because it is an old car. $294.00/hr is gouging the public.
