Brought my car into the shop for an inspection in early June 2023. A tech took the car out for a 10-minute drive and returned with two repair options. Was told my cost for a repair would consist of labor and a replacement part. LABOR: Option 1 involved extensive labor. Option 2 involved minimal labor. PART: Required replacement part (a single brake dust shield for front axle/drivers side wheel assembly). I chose Option 2 for the labor portion of the repair and the required replacement part (gave permission to order the part; the shop marked-up their cost over 300% to sell it to me), and established a date to return for the actual repair work. After the completion of the repair (less than one hour labor), I was presented with a bill for three items: Inspection Charge, Labor, and Part. Based on the previous repair activity discussion with shops employee, and the information supplied to me on paper from the shop (with two items circledthe labor and the part), I was expecting two charges- the labor and the part, and not the charge for the initial inspection. I felt this ****************** and repair activity was a little dishonest in terms of business practice, and I left the shop after the repair work feeling bad since I was shown and told one cost scenario then was actually presented with another (high costing/different) scenario when my ticket was processed/closed. In my experience, auto repair shops do not charge customers for relatively simple inspections (e.g., a **** minute test drive) when the customer ultimately agrees to have the shop-defined and prescribed repair work performed at the shop. In my opinion, reputable auto repair shops do not describe and list on paper two charge categories at the time of repair appointment scheduling, then ask a customer to pay for three charge categories at the completion of the repair work. -RTL, military veteran; civilian employee- **************, **************; resident- *********, **
