Breakthru Beverage is one of the largest alcohol distributors in the state of ******* and the country as a whole. One of the agreed upon charges that Breakthru implements on customers is a "breakage fee". This is a fee when you order less than a full case of an item, and you are charged this breakage fee per bottle. There isn't an issue with this charge as it is common in the liquor distribution world. The issue arises when an item you order that was slapped with the breakage fee never arrives, either due to being "short on the truck" or damaged on the truck. When we are finished with the delivery, we sign off the invoice deducting the total price of the item plus the breakage fee. When we go to pay invoices, we are only receiving credit for the bottle that wasn't delivered, not the breakage fee. Although the fee is small, this happens often leading it to add up to a larger sum. They haven't fixed their accounting issue, and it boils down to theft, charging a customer for a fee for a bottle that was never delivered. This issue is unique to Breakthru, as every other distributor of course waives the fee when the item doesn't get delivered. Despite my efforts to resolve this with Breakthru, and have them fix it for not just myself, but the many other independent liquor stores of *******, the issue still remains.
