Appointment scheduled was for a rebed Dechl? $450+ 59.95+29.00. The two persons here put in a new system taking advantage of an 85 yr. old and installing it for $1854.95 . Our "OLD" system was redone every 3 years with this $500+ work and with yearly checkup. This was not ethical nor very kind. ******* ******

On 12/5/22 our hot water heater went out, a friend recommended Affordable Water and he came right out. He asked us where the water softener was and said our water softener and Dechlorinator needed to be replaced because they were not working properly. As he and his crew started removing our property, they already had the new ones in the truck. He never told us a price. Then he looked at the Hot Water heater and called for someone to bring one to our location. Once everything was replaced he started talking about pricing and financing. We could not get financing at the moment so he if we could borrow money to pay for product that he had already replaced. We gave him $2500.00 up front. Our total bill (not itemized) was $7040.00. If we pay him $200, we get ***** in interest (which he never told us about interest at all) We will never get this paid off. I would not recommend Affordable Water to anyone. A hot water heater at a local home improvement retailer was $519. That was all we asked for, not $7040.00 worth of product we probably did not need. He has left threatening voicemails and tried to take money from our bank account without our approval.

In response to your review: We do have a signed contract for the equipment with the pricing. The down payment given was $2,000 not $2,500. We offered you in house financing as a courtesy, with the understanding that monthly payments of $200 were to be made directly to the office. With any same as cash transaction, if payments are not made, interest starts accruing. Payments were never made monthly, but one time, on this account and numerus statements were sent and phone calls were made from our office to try to collect a payment. If a payment was unable to be made, a phone call explaining that would have been appreciated. We are a very understanding company but were never given the chance to prove it to you due to lack of communication. If the agreed upon payments would have been made monthly, this system would almost be paid for at this time. Feel free to contact the office to take care of this account as the last payment was 5 months ago.

I have not used them for their services, but if they treat customers the way they treated me, I would stay as far away as possible.
I was driving south on interstate 39/90 just north of Madison, cruise control set at 78, in the far left lane making a pass when one of their vans came up inches from my bumper. The driver gave me no chance to move over after I complete my pass and proceeded to pass me at WELL over 80 mph on the shoulder of the interstate. I called the number on the back of the van to complain about this dangerous behavior.
About an hour later, I received a call back from an employee telling me they watched the on-board video of the incident. This employee proceeded to accuse my truck of impeding traffic, going so far as to say I was at fault for making this poor driver have to do what he did. This is wildly inaccurate as, for one, I don't drive a truck, I drive a sedan. The employee on the phone refused to listen to me, continuing to condescending tell me I can not impede traffic in the left lane no matter how many times I told him this was not the case and that he didn't even have the correct incident. Further, this implies this driver behaved in this manner multiple times.
These people have no respect for human life/other drivers, why would they respect you, the custoimer? They are rude, dangerous, disgusting people, avoid them at all costs.

Since my current softener was five years old I called Affordable Water after seeing their ad in the Belvidere paper that they cleaned other name brands softeners. On Thursday, November 3, 2022, ****, the owner, showed me my current softener (Culligan) had black liquid in the connections and was not softening my water correctly to filer out rust and sulfur. I am a senior single woman so I trusted his recommendation concerning the softener. My BIG mistake was that **** never gave me the bill identifying his charges for the softener before he started the job. In addition he told me about my hot water heater which was only three years old. I never agreed to a new hot water heater since I was not having any trouble with it. And, if there were issues I would have called ******* since the hot water heater was three years old. After all the equipment was installed, then **** gave me the bill and wanted a check written for $9800. I was totally shocked but at that point what could I do? Also, I was charged $650 (included in the $9,800 total) for a service policy for a year which again I did not agree to that amount. He left six bags of salt; however, I already had three bags for my softener which he also used. All **** said was that they would come out every three months to check on the softener. I wrote the check and then checked with friends on Friday, I went to the bank on Monday, November 7 to stop payment on the check but the check had already cleared. My five year old softener from Culligan costed $4,000 and my three year old hot water heater costed $1,145. I went to the office and spoke with **** on Tuesday, November 8 concerning how upset I was and he was very defensive. What do I want from all of this? I want a refund of $360 for the yearly service fee. I also feel I was overcharged at least $4000 for the softener and hot water heater. I also asked **** to itemize the bill since all that was on the bill was a total of $9,800 charge.
