This is in response to your BBB inquiry. Afni appreciates the opportunity to respond
to the consumer’s concerns. On July 7,
2022, AT&T forwarded the subject account, **** ******* ******* ** ********** ***** **** ******* ** ************, with Afni for collections on
the balance of $66.74.

the consumer listed on this complaint. Afni

On July 27, 2022, Afni received this complaint. This was Afni’s first contact with the

communication and initiated an investigation. Afni has attached copies of the
account billing statements to this response; these are provided as validation
of the account. To address the consumer’s concern’s, Afni is
unaware of any other disputes or complaints regarding this account, as this
complaint is the first notification Afni has received from the consumer. Additionally, Afni only contacts consumers at
the allowable times and frequency as regulated by state and federal law. As the
consumer has requested, Afni will no longer contact the consumer about this
account. Again, Afni has not and will
not furnish the subject account to the credit reporting agencies. However, this does not mean that the account

I am rejecting this response because:
Once again **** and their affiliate collection agencies are terrible. As you can see on the attached document and money order Afni doesn't even know the correct account number. On their response they indicated that my account number was *********, which was incorrect. My **** account number before I got rid of this company was *********. The amount their claiming that I owe $66.74 from 2016 is ridiculous. If you will refer back to the attached document that I submitted, that document reached me after the first payment was received by ****. Worse yet, they expect any reasonable person to retrieve a money order receipt from nearly seven years ago, which is unreasonable.

this account is in violation under 15 USC 1692g. as i never received a dunning letter in accordance with 12 CFR 1006 model form B-1 which is required to be sent to me within 14 days of the reporting of this account. i know for a fact i never received such letter and if they claim they have sent one then submit the certified mail tracking number so we can verify such proof.
they are also in violation under 15 USC 1681am as this account is reporting a transaction that was not imitated by the consumer as they have opened this account under my name without my prior consent, which would be unauthorized use under 15 USC 1602p a use of a credit card by a person other than the cardholder who does not have actual, implied, or apparent authority for such use and from which the cardholder receives no benefit. they have used my social security card (CREDIT CARD) to open this account which i have never authorized such use making it in violation of law. they are also reporting as my creditor on my consumer report but according to 12 CFR 1006.2(g) definition of a creditor states that a debt buyer is excluded from being a creditor making this a deceptive form which created false belief that a person other than the alleged original creditor of such consumer is participating in the collection.Business Response
