Low Cost Interlock should be closed permanently. Their customer service is unacceptable. Paired with low quality products makes for potentially dangerous situations. It is advertised that only a three second blow is required but it’s much more likely to take multiple tries to get a perfect blow that isn’t “too soft” or “too hard”. And sometimes it just never recognizes a blow. You’ll have to wait for a violation to try again. One out of ten times does it actually work as advertised. Can’t warm up your vehicle cause if a test is required while inside letting it warm up it’ll result in a missed violation. Can’t get out your vehicle too fast cause it may require a sample up to a minute after the vehicle is turned off. If that’s missed, another violation is occurred. Calibration was required twice a month, not once every three months like advertised. If you miss a calibration you will be stranded. Their customer service does not answer, and the programmed solution is un-helpful and aggravating. Hopefully no one is locked out in a dangerous area. Someone could be easily robbed or killed before they answer the phone.Initial Complaint

I almost immediately had problems with the equipment that was installed on my vehicle. I repeatedly followed the instructions provided and filled out the online paperwork to report the problem. I was unable to reach customer service over the phone after multiple attempts and many hours on hold. When my unit displayed a message that my interlock requirement had been automatically extended I drove to the installation site and asked for help. They were unable to help. When I finally reached customer service over the phone they told me the online forms I had been submitting didn’t actually work and I had to submit a different form. I completed and submitted the new form only to have my unit display a warning that I had to have my unit serviced immediately or my vehicle would be disabled. I again tried to reach customer service only to find that all of the phone numbers on the website went to a different interlock company that can’t help. After more than 12 hours of waiting on hold and calling different phone numbers I was told that I would have to pay for the maintenance and I would be refunded after filling out a form. I filled out the form and submitted the proper paperwork but the money was not refunded. The error was not because of anything I had done wrong but I still had to take a day off work, pay the fee, and drive more than 100 miles to stay in compliance. The equipment has known problems with known solutions but this information is not provided to the customer. Instead, the company allows the user to accumulate false “failed tests” or false “missed tests” so that the contract is automatically extended and the customer must pay for additional mandatory maintenance. Then they make it almost impossible to report equipment errors and they provide a false reporting system so customers think they have reported the problem when in actuality they haven’t corrected the record. This can result in months or years of additional required payments.Initial Complaint

I was required to install an interlock for 6 months. Device never worked correctly. Would not recognize when I blew into it. Low Cost Interlock never returned my calls requesting to have the device replaced. As a result I was unable to use my vehicle for six months. I was forced to drive it to the install shop for calibration three times per law. Sadly because the unit was faulty I got violation notices each time I drove it. I proactively filled out their online form to dispute the violation. They responded each time by letting the state know I was in violation prompting an extension for the interlock. I fought it each time and managed to get each issue resolved. After getting clearance to remove the interlock the installer removed and returned their equipment. Sadly, Low Cost Interlock continues to bill me anyway. Calls to billing or customer service go ignored. I've made multiple requests for a call back and have never received one. This company is a big SCAM.Initial Complaint

I wish I never paid for this company to install my interlock. Their vendor determined my device installed was defective twice now, but I was still somehow responsible for service call. The device continues to fail to obtain readings and not start so I’m often left finding another way home or to work because no one ever answers the help line. I went into the service center for the 3rd time in six months and was told by the technician that my device is faulty, “but you going to have to thug it out”because there was nothing he could do about the faulty device. Then when I call to complain or get assistance no one answers. I literally was on hold for 4 hours for assistance when my car was stuck, but the moment I selected install new device someone answered. Apparently, there is always enough staff to sell you a device, but never enough staff to help the customers they already have. Now it’s time to get the device out of my car and no one will answer or call me back, and now I fear being over charged for services. Then Within one minute of giving this company’s automated system my phone number for call back I began receiving scam text from a bank I don’t have an account with.Initial Complaint

I am writing to file a formal complaint against Low Cost Interlock, Inc. This complaint is necessitated not only by their failure to uphold contractual obligations and provide adequate customer service but also due to the severe implications their actions have on my legal rights as a citizen of Illinois and the United States. Contractual Non-Compliance and Neglect in Customer Service: Despite fulfilling my financial commitments, Low Cost Interlock has consistently failed to provide the necessary services and support for the ignition interlock device installed in my vehicle. This neglect extends to their customer service, with unattended callback requests and untimely responses, causing significant personal inconvenience. Direct Impact on Legal Rights and Freedom: The malfunctioning of the interlock device and the company’s failure to service it has grave implications. As a resident of Illinois, the state mandates compliance with interlock device regulations for maintaining driving privileges. The company's negligence directly jeopardizes my legal right to drive, potentially leading to the suspension of my driving privileges, and could even result in legal repercussions depending on the state's decision. This situation places my freedom at risk due to their contractual obligations to provide services. Widespread Impact on Citizens: Low Cost Interlock's disregard for their service obligations extends beyond individual cases. Given their broad reach across multiple states, their failure to uphold service standards potentially affects numerous citizens, infringing on their rights and freedoms. This widespread impact is alarming and necessitates immediate regulatory intervention. Financial Exploitation and Impact on Livelihood: The company's apparent focus on revenue generation over service fulfillment has led to financial exploitation.
