I am rejecting this response because:
This is also the video that was sent over by the customer the following day, showing the entire engine bay the day after the claimed fire.
    Sincerely,

******* ******* Oil hit the exhaust manifolds and catalytic converters and the flames went up! So I called and pleaded for some form of customer service ie a partial refund, a mechanical shop reference, or heck anything of the least. But no! They blocked my number! I've found so many cover *** on this truck including using wire to jumper a maxi fuse ti keep a circuit alive, removed fuses so that the failed suspension warning message wouldnt appear on the dash, and the fuse for the obd2 port was removed so that codes couldnt be read! And to top it off they advised me they made a rim repair and guess what I found? RTV with Flex Seal tape over a hole in the rim!!

Response to BBB Complaint Filed by ******* *******
    Regarding: 2008 ******** Escalade EXT
Date of Purchase: May 7, 2025
    Dear Better Business Bureau,
Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the complaint submitted by *** ******* ******* regarding his purchase of a 2008 ******** Escalade EXT from Cargo Vans of Chicago LLC.

    Summary of Sale:
The vehicle was originally listed at $9,999, with total costs including taxes and fees typically amounting to approximately $10,412.70. However, since *** ******* is an out-of-state resident from *******, no sales tax was collected on this transaction.
After negotiation and full disclosure of the vehicles condition, *** ******* purchased the vehicle for $6,000, sold strictly as-is, reflecting a significant discount of over $4,400.

    Condition Disclosure and Signed Agreements:
Before purchase, *** ******* inspected the vehicle in person and identified multiple issues, including:
Oil leak from the rear main seal
    Non-functioning air conditioning
    Rim with a slow leak
    Visible rust and cosmetic wear
All known issues were openly discussed, documented, and acknowledged by *** ******* through signatures on three separate as-is agreements. These documents clearly state that the vehicle was sold with no warranties or guarantees.

    Rim Condition and Offer:
The condition of the rims was fully disclosed, and we even offered *** ******* an alternative set of rims and tires. While these were not cosmetically perfect, they were functional and available at no additional cost. *** ******* declined this offer and proceeded with the purchase at the negotiated price of $6,000.

    Response to Fire Allegation:
*** ******* alleged that the vehicle caught fire approximately 60 miles after leaving our dealership. We respectfully dispute this claim for the following reasons:
The actual distance to the location he referenced (Belvidere, **) is over 100 miles from our dealership, not 60 miles as stated.
The initial video *** ******* sent to us showed oil present under the hood, but there was no visible fire, smoke, burn marks, melted components, or any fire damage. This oil could have come from a loose dipstick or unscrewed oil cap, which can cause oil splatter but is unrelated to a fire.
The day after the alleged incident, *** ******* sent additional photos and a clear video of the engine bay in broad daylight showing the vehicle running normally with no visible signs of fire or damage.
Contrary to his claim that we blocked him, we maintained communication. *** ******* continued to send videos, photos, and texts after the incident. His final communication stated he would contact an attorney, and we have not heard from him since.

    Conclusion:
This transaction was conducted with full transparency, honest disclosure, and documented agreements. *** *******:
Personally inspected the vehicle and identified its issues
Signed multiple as-is agreements acknowledging condition
Accepted a significant discount with no sales tax due to out-of-state purchase
    Declined offered rims replacement
Provided no credible evidence supporting the fire claim
Continued to use and inspect the vehicle after the alleged incident
We respectfully request that this complaint be dismissed based on the facts and the supporting evidence we have provided.

    Supporting Documentation:
To substantiate this response, we have attached the following documents and media:
Bill of Sale Showing final agreed price and terms
Signed As-Is Agreements (3 pages) Documenting buyers acknowledgment of vehicle condition
Customer Video No Fire Damage Video sent by *** ******* the day after the alleged fire, showing a clean engine bay with no fire damage, no smoke, and the vehicle running normally
We are available to provide any additional information or documentation if required.
    Sincerely,
    Cargo Vans of Chicago LLC
