I honestly don’t get why Midstate Collection Solutions, Inc is reporting this debt under my name because I don’t owe them anything. I never signed anything with them, and when I asked for a copy of the original application, they didn’t even bother to provide it. It’s frustrating because this is hurting my credit for no reason, and it’s just not fair. How can they just put something on my report without any proof?

I am rejecting this response because:
The billing this company and included within the debt is not valid. In the files attach here there was no proof that those products or services were needed or used by the business to cover any violations within the lease.
Furthermore I am not responsible for rent due in February of 2024. Therefore I am not responsible nor liable for this debt.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because the company is trafficking my private federally-protected personal information ALL without my authority, the company failed to honor my conditional offer as well as offer clarification in which I requested as the consumer; the company sent many harassing documents effected by the mails to my residence all while NOT having the authority to conduct business in my state of residence, Illinois (provided proof in previous communications), in so, if the company continues such profane behavior, I will act in order to protect my rights as the consumer.

I am rejecting this response because:
Midstate Collections did, in fact, close the account and report it as a charge-off reported on 06/23/23 (see attachment of my credit report). While we appreciate the updated documentation subtracting the alleged rent amount of $1300 that was mistakenly charged, Midstate continues to fail to provide documentation that an itemized receipt was sent to account holders within 30 days of the apartment being vacated pursuant to the IL Security Deposit Return Act. While they may "meet the requirements for validation of debt per the FDCPA and FCRA," they are not in compliance with the IL Security Deposit Return Act. There is also a charge for $19.82 from ****** for the month of August even though we stopped services as of 07/31/23 (see attachments showing a balance of $0 from 06/29/23-08/03/23 as well as confirmation that the account was closed). This account is full of errors and illegal collection attempts as Midstate's creditor failed to comply with the IL Security Deposit Return Act. The fact that "unpaid" rent was initially included in the debt amount and then later removed and the ****** statement is incorrect shows that ***** ****** has a pattern of reporting debts in error and breaking the law just to see how much money they can squeeze out of students ruining their credit without even slightly attempting to contact students about these charges before reporting to debt collection agencies like Midstate who allow these illegal practices to continue. I will follow up with counsel accordingly.
dstate was attempting to collect and the negative mark reported to the credit bureaus is invalid and illegal. When I tried to speak with Midstate on the phone with my attorney to resolve the issue, they refused to speak with counsel and then closed the account and reported it as a charge-off on our credit reports shortly after. Before the account was closed, my attorney wrote a letter to Midstate and sent it on 06/08/23 (attached). While we were hoping to resolve the issue with Midstate directly, the agency has made it impossible by closing the account and verifying the debt as valid when it, in fact, since it violates the IL Security Deposit Return Act and Midstate and ***** ****** has failed to prove otherwise.Business Response

They say I owe $500 in fees from Green Street Realty, but I was never made aware of these fees. They are trying to charge me for carpet cleaning, a stained mattress, and a dirty bathroom. My studio was not carpeted at all, I have no knowledge about a stained mattress, and I cleaned for hours before moving out! They should have also compared the state of the bathroom to what I wrote in the move-in report. Moreover, I moved out on May 16th, 2022, and these fees were apparently charged in August. I also returned my keys to ******* Apartments, and they were still managing the apartment when I moved out. Therefore, I received my key deposit back from *******. I received the deposit back because everything was cleared (and I did not receive charges from *******). According to the landlord and tenant rights and laws, I must be given an “itemized statement of the damages along with paid receipts within 30 days of the date [I] moved.” I did not receive an itemized statement with receipts from GSR. They had my email, as they contacted me previously, so there should have been no issues there. I sent an email to Midstate requesting photo evidence and itemized receipts on March 12, 2023 but did not get anything! They called me on March 15th, so they know about this email and said they would check. I confirmed my address with them 3 times (2x over the phone and 1x via email) now. As of March 31st, this was reported on my credit, but I clearly disputed this debt. This company should no longer contact me AND remove the debt from my consumer report. I have also reported this to the credit bureaus.Business Response
