My daughter was one of four college students who rented an apartment for the period of 8/23-7/24 at *** * ***** ****** (name of the apartment complex is *** ****). After moving out, and completely vacating the apartment, my daughter was charged $390 for various "damage charges". I am not certain of the exact charges, but her other 3 roommates were also charged similar amounts. We dispute all of them, and have told the leasing company as much per their direction to email them at ******************* with any disputes. We have emailed at least 3-4 times and also called and spoken with people at the property numerous times. There has been no backup, nor photos or invoices provided to substantiate these charges. Within her lease document it states that in the event there are any of these charges they will be substantiated by invoices. We've seen nothing. And we continue to get demand letter for the amounts they are charging.

When the students vacated the apartment, two of the four sets of parents were among the last in the unit and vouch that there was not ~$1500 worth of damage that needed repaired. We don't believe that this is anything other than the property owner trying to shake down unsuspecting students for unauthorized or unsubstantiated charges. We would like them to reverse the billings and refrain from contacting us further.

I am a guarantor on the lease, hence my reaching out through the BBB to try to get some assistance. Thank you.
