    In February 2022, my partner and I selected Gallery Guichard as the venue to host our 150-person wedding scheduled for August 2023. During our initial walk through, we described our vision, and the staff ensured us that they would be able to accommodate us. We paid the cost of the venue in full $3,425. In February of 2023, I sent numerous emails and it took several weeks for me to receive a response. I constantly asked questions regarding set-up and even paid extra for additional help to have the room transformed after the ceremony and before the reception. In a call with the venue on 28July2023 to finalize set-up and determine times, I was informed that 150 people would not be able to comfortably fit in the main gallery, and that a room flip could not occur. With the new changes abt ***** guests would be located in a different room, and would not be able to witness the wedding. At that, point I had no choice but to cancel that venue and find a new venue to accommodate my wedding which was 3 weeks away. I was informed by the Guichard's that only half of my payment was refundable, and I would receive a check by 30Sept. When I did not receive a check as promised, I contacted the Guichard's and was informed that the check was not sent due to them not being able to get to the bank. I received payment by ***** in increments receiving my final payment 01Nov. I believe I should receive a refund for the other half of my payment due to the breach of contract being on the venue, as they lead me to believe that they could provide a service, and comfortably accommodate the amount of guests listed on my initial application, and at the last minute tried to change the vision for my wedding day, which would in turn ruin my big day, because what is the purpose of inviting people to my wedding if they could not experience

    On April 9, 2024, Gallery Guichard signed an agreement to refund me $1000 of the $1750 taken from me by their failure to deliver the commissioned artwork paid on March 5, 2022. After having to retain an attorney to get a response from the owners, ***** and ******* **********************, the merchant signed an agreement to refund $1000 of the $1750 deposit. Then, they failed to make the payment, thereby breaching the signed agreement. The initial contract was made on 3/5/22 when I attended a gallery art show and commissioned ***** ********************** for the piece called the Jazz Trio. Despite the upfront deposit of $1750 I made for the commissioned artwork, the promised delivery date of May 2022 came and went. My initial preview of the commissioned piece was on or around 7/1/2022 where I expressed my concern for the artwork looking much darker than the original piece that was light and playful. The new piece he showed to me had a dark black background and felt melancholy and did not reflect the bright and lighthearted piece Id witnessed at the art show. Mr. ********************** provided his creative vision, and I reiterated the colors that I wanted to see in my piece, (gold, purple, pink, light colors as well as the instruments needing to look a specific way). Additionally, I have a witness, ********************* who is a firsthand witness to the conversation on July as well as the viewing of the commissioned piece. Mr. ********************** has not only failed to deliver the artwork, but he has stolen my $1750 deposit and profited from selling the artwork he made. By his admission, he shared that he would sell the sample pieces he showed me at art shows in *********** and D.C. Gallery Guichard is a fraudulent, predatory business.
