I contacted *****************************, head of the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce in June 2022. The business owners next door had forklifted up to a tree and was removing the decorative lights that the chamber had placed on the block. He was also sawing off large branches of the city tree. When ******* arrived, she was yelling to the men to stop removing their property, only to be ignored. After several minutes of this, they came down from the forklift. The men then began to yell at me, one in particular very aggressively leered over me, pushing his finger into my chest, and screaming at me to shut up. Despite being fearful of my safety, ******* did nothing to stop him. There is video documentation of this occurring. The man, realizing that ******* was "somebody", he then became friendly to her. He purported that the Chamber's lights were damaging his building. She then allowed him to continue. She then left. When the man continued, he hit a dog and a parked car with the strand of lights. I called the Chamber's office to let them know this was happening, only to have someone yell in the background of the call, "someone hit a dog, oh she's crazy!" When I brought this to *******, the director's attention, I was told she was talking about someone else. I asked why the Chamber, then, would staff people that would call other people names. I also realized my membership had lapsed with the Chamber so I renewed it, thinking perhaps this was why ******* didn't bother to interfere with the very clear threat to my safety. According to the Chamber's literature, it promotes businesses with multiple layers of advertising. After more than six months, no advertising hadn't ever given. Not even any social media interaction, which the Chamber provided to numerous other practitioners in the ****. I contacted *******, the director, in January regarding this. I asked for a refund, she agreed. Since, she has refused to provide a refund. She has also written to me in an extremely rude way.
