This *** Store location charged me $67.25 to print four short PDF documents. I requested help from the owner of the business - he rolled his eyes and added paper to the printer. I told him I clicked 'print' numerous times on the computer because his complicated commercial printing machine wasn't working. I continued to press the 'stop print' button on the machine but it wouldn't stop. I stated to him I only wanted to print ONE COPY. To that, he replied 'oh well' and stood a few feet away watching the machine print numerous copies - not helping, not caring, not fixing the machine to do what I requested, and ultimately knowing it would cost me an absurd amount of money. I believe this to be negligence and possibly fraud, as I have reason to believe he takes advantage of all his customers in this way to make extra income. I asked him nicely for a partial refund and he declined and strangely requested I give him my tax documents and social security number, which I did not. The owner of a *** Store has no business or reason asking his customers for their personal tax and ssn information. This is highly alarming to me and should be brought to the attention of the *** in addition to the BBB. Based on his attitude and the bizarre things he said to me, I now worry he's going to try to extract my personal information from his store's computer. The owner was confrontational and refused numerous times to issue a refund for any amount of the charge regardless of the fact that he was practicing negligence and clearly takes financial advantage of his customers. I request the amount of $67.25 refunded to the credit card I used for the transaction. I'm also requesting his business investigated by the federal government for negligence and fraud, and indefinitely shut down. Under no circumstances should a *** Store owner be requesting information from their customers that could lead to identity theft and numerous other federal laws being broken.

    Business Response

This customer asked for assistance at our ************ Computer/Printer because he said it was not printing. Initially I checked the computer to see if there was a technical issue with the computer. He had commented that he was printing a lot of things and it wasn't printing at all.

I looked at our Copier/Printer combo to see if there was a paper jam, and it appeared that the screen had said that the machine was out of paper. I replenished the paper and continued about my business.

At the end of this customers transaction, he asked me for assistance again saying that he had printed multiple copies of the same document. I asked him why he had sent the same file to print multiple times if he only wanted one. He became belligerent with me and insisted that it wasn't fair that he was charged for somethin he didn't do.

The software he was using, which is a national software used in many hotels and small service facilities such as ours (by Uniguest) has a prompt each time a customer sends the file to print with what the total for printing this file is, and they have to actively select the 'yes' or 'no' button to send the job.

At no point did I request this persons personal information, I suggested that it wasn't fair that I would be penalized for his mistake.

I am rejecting this response because: The owner of this business is being dishonest.  I was standing in front of the store's computer screen the whole time and at no point did it show the printer was out of paper, at no point did it show it was printing multiple copies and at no point did it provide me with any assistance.  The owner refused to assist as he was attempting to capitalize on the computer's malfunction.  At the end of the transaction, the computer showed the total amount to be charged to me card as $61.  Now there there two charges to the Chase credit card I used, one for $67.25 and one for $20, totaling $87.25.  I acknowledge that I should have owed the business $8 for printing the 4 documents.  Therefore, the new amount I'm requesting refunded to my card is $79.25.  The fact that the computer showed $61 at the end of the transaction, and the business is now making two separate charges to my card totaling $87.25 is proof that either their computer system is not correct, or the owner is making fraudulent charges to his customer's credit cards through his computer system.  There can be no other explanation.

The owner of the business is dishonest and taking financial advantage of his customers.  There are numerous ****** and Yelp reviews of customers who feel taken advantage of, complaining about the same types of bizarre issues.  To be clear, the owner did indeed ask for my tax documents and ssn, and he requested them numerous times.  This whole situation is bizarre and I believe there's more than meets the eye.  BBB - please retrieve my $79.25 back to my card, and I would appreciate if you communicate with the *** to have a thorough investigative audit completed regarding the numerous complaints against this business.

    Sincerely,
