August 2023, March 2024 and September 6, 2024: In August of 2023 and March of 2024 verbal notice was given to Republic Services that ********* *********************** would no longer require the use of their garbage service. During our conversation I was informed that I would need to send a certified letter to their office expressing my desire to end service with them. On September 6, 2024 A certified letter was sent to their office located at **************************************. The letter stated that effective September 30, 2024 ********* *********************** would be canceling services at all three of our locations. As of today November 12, ***** service has been canceled at our ********************* location and at our *********** location. I have spoken with several of of Republic Services agents during this process expressing my dissatisfaction with their company not canceling the service for our ****************** location. On September 17, 2024 a representative from Republic Service by the name of **** ****** stopped by 234 E. 115th to introduce herself. At that time I also verbally informed her that I did not want to continue service and would like for service to be canceled effective September 30, 2024. I received several emails from her with different pricing. I again called them and expressed that I wanted the service canceled. On November 6, 2024 I received at letter via mail stating that the current contract doesn't end until October 4, 2026 and that in order to cancel service I would be charges liquidation fees.

    Business Response

    Date: 11/19/2024

On September 12th, rep **** ****** made a proactive visit to this customer.  During this meeting, which I was also in attendance, we did not speak with *******.  She was at the location, but deferred us to speak with one of her associates ****** ******.  During this discussion we were made aware of the cancellation attempt and advised the customer of our cancellation procedure.  We also discussed following up with a proposal to price match a competitive offer.  On 9/16 we received the cancellation letter for the account.  As part of our cancellation process we provided a copy of the customer service agreement in addition to our liquidated damages letter of acknowledgement.  The liquidation damages letter as well as a copy of the contract was also hand delivered on Oct 4th.  To date we have not received acknowledgment of the liquidated damages letter in order to proceed with removal of the containers.  We can remove containers, but per the terms in the agreement will be charging liquidated damages.  We would like verbal or written acknowledgment of those charges to process the cancellation request.
