This is an elaborate towing scam! Allow me to first explain what happened. On Saturday, February 25th, I was involved in an accident on ****************. I was sitting at a complete stop in traffic when a vehicle struck me at the back of my vehicle. Initially, the individual got out of her vehicle and was concerned. She asked if I was okay and stated she was going to call the Police and Ambulance. Let me state that I am a 67 year old senior citizen. I was very shaken up from this accident. The towing company was Loop *************** **** *** the towing guy stated that he works with the ******* Police often and knows them well. They both suggested that he should tow my vehicle and pull it off to the side, also onto E ***** Drive. From there, the Police Officer performed his crash report. When that was concluded, the towing guy stated that he will take care of it all, for me not to worry about it, and just make sure that I am okay and he will tow my vehicle to his yard. After contacting Loop Operations Ill **** the following day to arrange getting it towed from his facility to the repair shop, *** at Loop ****************** states that the bill will be $5,800 for just a 10 mile tow. He is a complete scammer. He said "Don't worry you won't have to pay it, your insurance company will. I have to make some money on this" On top of that, he stated that he only accepts payment in CASH. No checks, no credit card, no cashier's check, just cash. He ended up changing the bill to $5,950 for an extra day of storage. This is completely illegal and not morally okay for him to take advantage of a senior citizen like this. I'd like to expose this guy to the public and make sure that he doesn't continue to take advantage of people like he does. His scam is that he uses a CB radio to listen to police scanners and shows up to any accident he is nearby to prey on his next victim. The yard where he towed it to is 25th Fast Auto Repair, address is ****************************************************************.
