I hired MC Construction for two quoted jobs. Job 1 was a poured concrete stamped patio with stairs and a flatwork pad under a deck. This was quote #****** in the total amount of $6,255.89. This quote was accepted and a deposit paid of $1,751.65 on check number 2718. This work was completed with the EXCEPTION of the stairs, which I was told would be poured with Job #2 to follow. The final amount due for this project was $4,504.24, paid on check number 2719. No balance owed. Job#2 was quote # ****** and was accepted at the same time as Job #1 and deposit amount of $2,203.87 was provided on check number 2718 as well. This job was for a poured concrete footing around the patio and setting of a retaining wall on this footing. I was given 8 start dates for this project, and provided additional money down of $2,000 when asked because they were ordering concrete and going to start. I was given start dates of Sept 16, 18, 30, Oct 3, Dec 6, April 3, 7 and 21. Nothing was started on any of those dates, no explanation of why it didn't start and I never received an update until I reached out, each time. I offered a clean break with no further litigation if he just refunded my paid money, to which has not been refunded. Continued contact has yielded no results and no effort to resolve the issue, compelte the job, or refund the money paid form the contractor. The non completion (no stairs and no concrete sealer) of Job #1 and the complete disregard for Job #2 (Concrete footing and retaining wall) is the cause of this case. At minimum, I need money back for Job #2 and I may also be entitled to partial refund on Job #1 since the stairs and sealer was never completed.

Paid a deposit for concrete driveway. Work was halted by the City of Moline because MC Concrete (***********************) failed to seek the required permit. He was told to get the permit. He started again working without the permit claiming he cleared things up with the city of ******. The city came out and slapped a lawsuit on our front door.It turns out that MC Concrete is not bonded with the city to do the Right of Way (ROW). We dont understand why he would even bid a job he knew he was not authorized to do. He claims he did not plan on the city of ****** finding out.*** tore out 10 feet of driveway *********************************************** that the typical cost to remove a driveway is $1.5 - $2.0 a square foot. So, 230 sq feet x 2.0 (top end) would be $460. We gave him a deposit of *****. We even agreed to settle for a refund of $4,000 giving him $2,800 just to settle this. He has refused to follow through. Please help us.
