They sent me a check for 600$ they still owe me 450$ and will not respond to me and told me I'm not allowed to come to their office..

    Business Response

Ms. ****** ****** came in to see me regarding a bankruptcy in the spring of 2021.   She made three payments for a total of $950.   I worked on her bankruptcy papers on at least 2 different occasions in 2021.   $950 is the amount I charged for bankruptcy in 2021.

When she came back to see me in 2021 I told her that we now charge $1100 for bankruptcy cases.  Then she told me she paid $1100 which did not make sense because we did not charge that much for bankruptcy back then.  I asked her if she had receipts.   She showed me ripped up receipts that did not show the date or receipt number.

I went through the 2021 receipt book and confirmed that she paid $900 in 2021.  Then she asked for a refund.  I sent her a check for $600 as a refund and kept $350 for the work we already did on her case.  She does not seem happy with this amount and wants us to return more money than she actually paid.

I am rejecting this response because:

My receipts added up to 950$ they are old but can see amounts and they also have failed to find my folder with important papers in it. Also I asked for original contract and he can't produce that.  I've met with him twice for about 10 minutes each time and my paperwork never got completed. They still owe me 350$ and my paperwork.

When I meet clients I usually give them a sheet of paper that says the things I need to file the bankruptcy.   On that paper it states that we charge $950 for a bankruptcy.   That is a written piece of paper that memorializes the agreement for the services to be rendered and I attached it to this response.  Our agreement was almost four years ago.

Attorneys I have talked to return the unearned portion of their fee and that is what I did in this case.  I talked to my dad and he agreed a refund of $600 was fair.  I have met with this client on at least 3 different occasions.  I have looked through many of her papers and consulted her about bankruptcy.  We even started typing up her bankruptcy.  I have returned the papers to her through the BBB office in Peoria.

I do not think she is entitled to a full refund since she some work was done on this file.  I will offer an additional $125 to her to resolve this dispute.  I will pay her the additional $125 once she removes the negative ****** review if this offer is accepted.

So am I not getting the rest of my money?

    Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:

I am owed more than that. I want at least 250$ of my other 400$ owed then I will take down my ****** review.
