When I was scheduling my appointment I was asked if I wanted to do a self pay or insurance. I was gonna do self-pay as it was only $200 and I didnt know what my insurance would be. I was talked into doing insurance instead by bright light staff member saying it would be cheaper than the out-of-pocket. When I receive my bill, it was almost $400. I called to speak to Bright Light billing department about this and they said there was nothing they could do. I asked if they could change me back to self-pay they said not after they submitted to my insurance. I explained the situation and told them I was coerced into doing the insurance. They still did not care to do anything or negotiate with me on this pricing. And what right mind would I choose the more expensive choice? All Im asking them to do is either reverse this to self pay and I will pay the $200. Or to at least work with me on this bill and lower it till like 250 or something. $383 is almost double what they quoted me. I dont want a payment plan either for the full amount as I dont feel I should owe the full amount since I was basically lied to and course into using the higher payment option without knowing.

      To Whom It May Concern,

When this patient scheduled her appointments, she elected to utilize her health care insurance after being provided with an estimated out-of-pocket cost for her exams, based on her insurance information. At the time of scheduling, the patient provided her insurance details, including her ID number and group number, and her eligibility was verified.

Please note that our self-pay rates apply to patients who do not have insurance or who choose not to provide their insurance information. These rates are clearly published on our website, with a disclaimer stating: "Please note: below pricing does not apply to insurance billing. Insurance rates depend on individual plans."

Our self-pay rates are separate from the contracted rates we have with insurance companies. If the patient did not wish to use insurance, she should not have provided her insurance information at the time of scheduling or again at the time of the appointment. Once insurance is processed, and we are informed that the patient has insurance, we are legally obligated to follow the terms of our contract with their insurance provider. Therefore, we are unable to do anything else at this time with regards to costs.

It is important to note that it does not impact us whether a patient chooses to use insurance or not. Our responsibility is to comply with the terms of the insurance agreement if the patient elects to use their coverage.

On June 10, 2022, I had an *** done at Bright Light Medical Imaging in ******* **. I became a first-time customer because I was researching less expensive ***s. I was quoted $450 cash, and because I needed w/without contrast it would be more, around $550. Over a few calls, I talked to a few reps who confirmed that price. I found it competitive with other facilities. I chose Bright Light because it had an availability that week, I decided to drive far - 45 mins out there. Basically, I ONLY WENT THERE FOR THE CASH PRICE. Close to the appointment, I was asked for more information, doctor and insurance stuff. At no point did I say that I wanted to pay via insurance. Since offices have their own information-gathering policies, I obliged. She said she would check to make sure that I was clear for the exam, which I took to mean that she would check with the doctor for approval. Because I am claustrophobic, I took a relaxant prior to the *** and was driven by a family member. I was feeling loopy, compliant and not my normal self. When I went to pay with my card, the person at the desk said , arent you paying with insurance? In the moment, I was under the influence of a prescribed drug and was confused and nervous. I said, Uh.. ok."Then, in the mail, I received a bill for $1500, almost 3x the price! I was stunned, angry and felt duped. They billed my insurance $2000 for a $550 charge. HOW IS THAT EVEN LEGAL?I was furious but stayed calm and called them. The rep in the ****************** bickered with me for 15 mins and basically called me a liar, saying a misunderstanding was not possible. SO RUDE!!!!I sent a letter about the situation and a check of $650, more than I expected it to be. My letter was ignored. They've been sending me debt collector warnings since. I have called and written. I refuse to pay more than agreed. I was clear about why I was going there and I was under the influence of a drug when they asked me to pay using insurance.
