Before being treated at Kovach Eye Institute, I was excited to regain my clear vision and resume my daily activities with no vision issues. I am very concerned about my left eye even after the surgeries. In June 2023, I received surgeries to remove a cataract and ocular pressure in my left eye. I have received multiple (over fifteen) types of eye drops during the pre-treatment and recovery. These eye drops are very expensive and demanding on my income. Some of the medications prescribed have caused me to express gastric distress, headaches, eye pain, tearing, and other various symptoms. I have reported a drooping in my left eyelid, that was not present prior to surgery. This affects my appearance as well as the clarity of my vision. The medicine prescribed has not lessened or resolved the issue. My vision varies in accuracy and clarity. My eye continues to present in varying stages of redness and irritation, at times so much so that I have headaches that affect my mobility and daily activities. I have reported floaters, fragments, and foreign objects that are visible with normal daily activities such as teaching CPR courses, riding in the car, moving around, etc. I have been advised my recovery will be long, but no clear explanation of what this means.

On July 1, 2022, I had cataract surgery on my left eye at Dr. ********************'s ****************************** of ******** in ******, **. During that surgery, I had an $6,500 premium intraocular lens implanted in my left eye in order to have good distance vision. On July 2, ******************************************** my left eye were much worse than before the operation. But during an eye examination on July 2 and again on July 8, 2022, doctors Kovach Eye Institute assured me my distance vision would become sharp after 2 to 3 weeks. Based on these assurances, I agreed to go forward with cataract surgery and have another premium $6,500 lens implanted in my right eye. This operation took place on July 15, 2022. After the July 15th operation, the vision in my right eye also became significantly worse. Since then, the vision in both eyes has not improved, but has remained much poorer than before the operation. However, on August 16, 2022 Dr. ******************** said my vision will not improve unless I have Lasik surgery. On this date, Dr. ******************** admitted he is paid an additional fee by the lens manufacturer for performing Lasik surgery on patients who receive these lenses. Clearly, Dr. ******************** has a financial incentive to perform extra surgery on his cataract surgery patients. Perhaps this is why he and his clinic misled me into believing the vision in my left would improve a great deal simply by waiting. My eyes were examined by the facility on August 16th. At that appointment, Dr. ******************** was adamant in insisting nothing could be done to change the outcome except Lasik surgery. He now claims that the manner in which the lenses settled in my eyes was unpredictable. Why he and his colleagues did not mention this before my second surgery, but instead assured me the vision in my left eye would become sharp, is not clear.
