We had ½ of a cow processed late December 2021 and payed the Farmington Locker Plant $1500 in processing fees. On February 22nd, I went to pick up the remaining beef (approximately 20-30lbs of ground beef, steaks and roasts) and our locker was empty and they could find our beef. They said they would call later when they found it. 15 minutes later, they called and informed me that it had been thrown out because they needed space and it was old. I asked why they didn’t call first, they said they didn’t know whose meat it was and it was thrown away because they were making room and it was old.
I called Monday afternoon and spoke with the manager, and asked why we weren’t called before it was thrown out. He said they just went through all the lockers and threw out the meat that was older for more space and they didn’t call because they didn’t know who the meat belonged too. I asked how they were going to provide compensation for the discarded product and he hung up on me.
I called Wednesday and spoke with the manager. I informed him that we payed $1500 for the meat and that it wasn’t their property to throw out. He kept on stating that it was old, and that it why it was thrown out. When I asked about a policy, he stated that it was his policy, I then asked him to provide the policy or how was I supposed to know about the policy or if the policy was stated anywhere or posted anywhere and he did not have an answer.
We had 20-30lbs of meat, they threw away approximately $250 of meat that was not their property without contacting us. This was not their meat to throw away, it was ours, we paid for the processing and offered to pay for a locker rental. As the product had been paid in full, we offered to rent proper space to house the product, they had no right to dispose of our property without our permission. If they would have called we would have come and gotten it. There was also not any policies posted about throwing meat away past a certain age as well.

Mr **** did not pay Farmington Locker 1500 dollars.  He paid 436.25 dollars. According to the ************** the shelf life of frozen beef kept in storage is 12 months. Every year we check our freezer to look for meat that has been forgotten or just plain neglected to make space for new beef. In the fall of 2024 we seen  what was left of Mr ***** beef from 2021. We rendered it neglected and no longer fit to eat since it had been left for 3 times the recommend shelf life of frozen beef.  Mr **** also did not pay any locker fees so technically he owes us for 3 years worth of storage at 10 dollars per month or 360 dollars.  Thank you
