This dealership requires people to send the title to their vehicle before releasing payments. They rope you around thinking you have a deal, then send forms saying the send the title prior to them paying you for your vehicle. Made me missed out on multiple offers thinking they were legit. Should be shut down.

      Business Response

Mr. **** requested we make an offer to purchase his 2022 Tesla Model ** We delivered a value of $125,000 and provided a thorough overview of our process, including when title and payment would be exchanged. Because we are in ********, ** and Mr. ****** vehicle is in Southhampton, **, we are not able to receive Mr. ****** title face-to-face in exchange for our check payable to Mr. ***** It is not possible nor safe for our contracted carriers to pick up title when vehicle is picked up so we requested from Mr. **** what we request from all customers: that title be returned with his signed documents using the pre-paid ***** envelope we provided. This is industry standard, as contracted carriers are 3rd-party and not employees of a dealership. One does not provide signed title to a party unrelated to a transaction. This is for the protection of both parties. While we thoroughly outlined our process at first point of communication with Mr. ****, including payment being released to him after title is received by us, we understand if this is not preferable for Mr. ***** Mr. **** did not sign or return the documents we prepared and sent to him for him to sell the 2022 Model ** We understand if selling to a local buyer is more acceptable to him, and we requested nothing further from Mr. ***** When he decided our process was no longer for him he had no further obligation to us, nor any money or commitment to us that he is at risk of losing. We simply parted ways. You'll see he identified no issue with our process in the two attached emails; only that he was traveling away from home.

      Thank you,

I'm attaching all emails & a chat thread provided between myself and ******* (employee). At no point until, the ***** package was sent back to me was there any mention of "releasing the title" in order to release the funds. We would have not moved forward had we known that was the case. This company intentionally leaves it because once you've received the ***** package (which is where it's mentioned) you've done most of the work, there would be a lot of wasted days. ******* just all but confirmed this in the email where he says "most customers are not ok with this process but ends up trusting and going along with it". That is because you told other people "no". What sense does it make for anyone to blindly send a clear title without receiving any type of payment? I can guarantee you no bank will do that. This company asks for pictures of everything and drivers license. This company practices shady (if not fraudulent practices), they cost me over 2 potential sells and a lot of wasted time. Others within the Tesla FB group have complained after I shared my experience and recommended I reach out to you BBB to investigate. In **, they are breaking a statue. Not sure IL consumer law. My team is filing a complaint here in the state of NY seeking that they can no operate here.

      Sincerely,

      ***********************

We simply cannot accommodate **************' request. We do not wire funds, especially in this amount ($125,000.00) with no title or vehicle in our possession. We understand and respect if ************** chooses not to proceed with the sale of his car to us, but *this is our POLICY* and we do not make exceptions to policy and procedure. If ************** was local to us and chose to deliver title and vehicle to us himself we would be able to provide a check at that time as we would be able to confirm identity as well as clean/clear title. This is not possible with his vehicle in ******** and our store in ********. I am sorry we are not able to purchase **************' vehicle on his terms. We consider this matter closed.
