  Stay Away! Design First is under new ownership and the quality has plummeted. Would not recommend We hired them for a full kitchen remodel and covered patio. The project started in July 2024 and didnt finish until May ****** months of disruptions. Despite spending over $260,000, we didnt get the full-service experience promised. The job was full of poor planning, miscommunication, construction errors, and delays Staff turnover was constantone fired salesperson, two designers, two project managers. One designer refused to give cabinet layout options unless we used their in-house line. One project manager delayed work for weeks over a window, then resumed without it. Project leads were swapped midstream with no input from us Major issues:***** wasnt called before digging, putting our electrical line at risk. The inspector contacted us with serious concerns Concrete was poured too high and had to be jackhammered and redone A stove vent was routed through our laundry ceilingdropping it by a footwithout approval Floors were installed an inch too low. Their fix wouldve destroyed our existing hardwood; we had to escalate to get it corrected.Pocket doors were off-center and had to be redone Windows sat in garage for weeks as they didnt have instruction. We called company and got them in ******************************************************** the original scope Workers caulked over the protective film on windows We even had to manage things ourselveslike sprinkler permits and vendor communicationdespite their we handle it all promise Communication was terrible. Questions were ignored. Updates were vague. Many days without work or update when/if theyd show. One ********* said he was winging it as he wasnt given renderings-we had to print them A job quoted at 3 months took 10. No one oversaw the full project from start to finish. No final walkthrough. Near the end, we signed a form and they vanished
