I had visited this shop several times over the course of 2 weeks. In this time they refused to use color on me and do my tattoos as I asked for them to be done because I was “too dark”. I booked an appointment 5/21/24 at 5:30 and arrived at 5pm. My artist, ****, just finished another tat and was taking a break according to the receptionist. She didn’t come back in until 5:45pm and still hadn’t done any work on my ideas. I emailed her 4 hours prior to my appointment with my tattoo ideas. She started my tattoo around 6:04P/6:05P and I was in my car leaving by 6:17P. My tattoo was not what I asked for because she refused to do it that way and it goes all the way down into my underarm. Her hourly charge is $125 and I had her booked for an hour and a half. She gave me multiple reasons such as she wouldn’t be able to bandage me, use color or make lines that small to fit to deny me of how I wanted my tattoo done. I was told previously by the same male receptionist that all payments were due before service. Upon my arrival I tried to pay because I was previously informed that was policy and he stated “I must of just been trying to close up quick that day”. On this particular day that he stated this originally I was with another African American female and it was 4:30P/5P and they close at 7P. Before she finished my tat I asked how much more I owed or if it was all paid in the $110 deposit. She said u owed $15 more which I thought was crazy but with how they were already treating me I just paid it. I took $20 out of my pocket and left it on the bed and proceeded to walk out. The receptionist begins yelling so loud I jump screaming “HEYYYYY YOU NEED TO PAY YOUR BILL”. Almost as if he thought I wasn’t paying for my entire tattoo. The entire time I was in the shop the receptionist and the piercer targeted me with rude comments revolving around the fact that I wanted color tattoos and judgement of who I had allowed to pierce and tattoo me in the past. I would like a refund.

    Business Response

When Miss ****  came into the store we explained to her Multiple times that what she was wanting to get  was not feasible. The tattoo that she wanted was way too small to do and that it would not hold up overtime, especially in red. She was very adamant about getting it anyway . We ask our customers to notify us 48 hours before the appointment if they Change the design to give the artist plenty of time to Make the changes . She emailed the artist the day of with a different design than what was previously discussed . Miss **** Gave me her ID and filled out and signed a release form . The artist then drew up the design showed it to her, made a stencil for it, placed it on her body Miss **** looked at the design and okayed it before we tattooed her. If there was a problem with the design, she should’ve said something before we  tattooed her we would’ve been more than happy to change the design beforehand. It happens all the time  . We have been in business for 26 years. And in  those 26 years we’ve only had a handful of problems with a few customers. It’s very unfortunate that something like this happened. I wish that she would’ve came to us first we would’ve done what we could to make it right. Unfortunately The service is  nonrefundable.

    Thank you for your time

    Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:

In this response they mentioned two separate incidents put together. I came with a friend weeks prior and got matching “WAYS” tattoos and they told me I was too dark for my tattoo to be in red and that any color wouldn’t work on me. When I arrived to get my tattoo I told **** I did not like it and she was adamant that she couldn’t do it any other way. She refused to do the designs I asked for which I previously discussed with her when she did my “WAYS” tattoo. She charged me a full hour for a rushed 15 minute tattoo that goes all the way down to my armpit which I said I didn’t like and she basically said I’d lose my deposit if I didn’t want that tattoo. Then to say I should’ve came to them after they created an uncomfortable environment for me. **** and ***** talked about me all the way through the majority of my visit. **** ran to the back to tell ***** something about me and ***** came to the front and made comments attacking me about being intoxicated (which was strange because I wasn’t) then he made the comment “we’ve been doing this for so long and most times you get cool people who want cool work done but every once in a while you get a random who doesn’t know what they’re talking about or what they want and they’re just a hassle for everyone” then looks over at me. Then after my tattoo they all yelled at me mainly ****, the receptionist, accusing me of trying to walk out on the remaining balance of my tattoo. This was the type of environment for a black person to do anything let alone complain.
