I am rejecting this response BBB case number
Complaint: 23278300
I am rejecting this response because:
When I hired Dr ******************** I personally had been able to keep 80 % of my lawn in good living condition for years. My st ********* in the front yard and the back yard was also a mix of zoysia grass. The St Augustine and Zoysia grasses were fine if treated with correct chemicals to keep away disease. It had been growing strong for more than 15 years. Im very aware that on the far left front yard had its largest challenge with the trees. I do take responsibility for this area. But the rest of the yard, if it had been treated correctly or even at all by your company should have made progress. I knew it needed to be arrated and having a grub control would additionally help At the time of hiring it was those two services I felt the lawn needed the most. I dont understand why none of the treatments done by Dr ******************** couldnt have turned around the existing yard last March 2024
I find it interesting that the summary that Dr ******************** has completed is after they were treating my lawn, trees and shrubs for over a year. Why if you treated it correctly did this happen? As for the lawn, I had the grass mowed by a professional company. If these were issues why wasnt ANY of the mowing issues brought to anyones attention before now.?
I truly find it hard to understand that you feel that you take no responsibility for the outright death of my lawn IF all of these things could have been done to get the yard growing stronger, or growing without any disease why wasnt this all addressed when you initially took me on as a client? Because from what ***** said to me on the phone your experts feel you could get my yard back by doing special organic treatments. But never once did your team suggest anything to help my lawn until now. ***** actually expects me to keep Dr ******************** treating my property even though they did nothing to prevent how it looks now. Im honestly shocked that Dr ******************** takes me on as a client and although there were a few small areas that needed help but not all on my yard. I even brought to the attention of the person that I originally spoke to that I had some concerns with a few areas
in 2024 I had grass in more then 75 % of my front yard The reason I know this is acceptable and true is because my HOA didnt have a problem with my front and side yards. They were aware that I had tried my best getting my lawn to survive all the weather conditions Dr ******************** seems to feel is the issue for the death of my lawn
As for the crowding of the back yard I can honestly say the only area that pretains to this is where the Asian Jasmine is healthy and over grown. However it is still green and growing fine where there is only Asian Jasmine. If you notice I made no complaints about that section.
If you go further down that far side where there was grass and only 2 Red tips that were at least 12 feet tall. You can see black spot on those 2 red tips. The grass below is now just dirt.
if you go to the far back left corner of the backyard there are two or three additional red tips growing green and strong. These Red tips have been there for over a decade At no time have they encroached the area where the Hollys are.
The Hollys are back by the pool. This is the back of the yard near the back fence. Those trees have remained healthy under my care. The grass underneath gets full sun for almost the entire afternoon. With proper care there should have been no issues for my Hollys, Red Tips, Asian jasmine and St Augustine grass. But as stated by Dr ********************s expert that after over a year with Dr ******************** being responsible for making sure any diseases, fertilization, aeration, grub control were all to be under there control.
If Dr ******************** did everything they were supposed to do and have now said that if brought to their attention they could have made the lawn stronger with organic treatments, why did they not state this when they accept the job in March 24
Why would I get incorrect emails about mosquito control being put down and I never agreed to that treatment ***** said it was a mistake that it was supposed to be a tree and shrub treatment How does she know the technician actually treated the trees and shrubs for diseases and not the mosquito treatment on the invoice. Why is it that areas of my lawn where the ************ gets enough sun and has grown truly wonderful when I treated it now is mostly dead and black?
Yes, you can see the grass roots near the surface of the turf. But again that is something thats happened with Dr ******************** treating the lawn. I paid for an aeration if the lawn plus grub control both of those treatments should have made the lawn much stronger not have the roots up at the surface.
i Do understand that Dr ******************** doesnt want to take responsibility for anything. They want to blame everything but how they cared or lack of care. Ive lived at this home for 25 years. I know about the grasses and all the rest. I still say that even though Im not trained to know exactly all the special treatments that lawn trees and shrubs need all the time, I still was able to treat everything better then what your company did in 1 year
I could understand Dr ********************s rebuttals if they had addressed ALL these same issues in March 2024, But at no time did Dr ******************** send me any such concerns when they took over the care of my lawn Trees and shrubs. At no time did they tell me there was a problem with the mowing. If they had I could have let the professional lawn service know that as professionals Dr ******************** felt they were harming my lawn. But nothing like that was even brought to my attention. Instead after great areas of lawn that is now so damaged or gone that only replanting could fix this issue. Even the day before I sent an email about how poorly my yard had gotten with ***************************** or lack of it, I received an email saying there was no disease in the lawn and it all looked good. Only a crazy person would look at my yard and say it looks good. There is even a 1 x 1 picture of grass that was on this email that was made me to believe that was my grass. Its all crazy.
Bottomline: Did Dr ******************** actually do their due diligence when they took over the care of my yard? Did all the feed and chemicals that they applied to my grass, trees, bushes and shrubs plus extra treatments for aeration and grub control actually help and not hurt my yard?
I honestly can not find one area or my yard that has benefitted by my hiring Dr ********************.
For the record I should have brought this to managements attention before now. I have been in **** caring for my mother who is very ill. My son has been at the house this full year and not once did he ever see a technician on our property.
If Dr ******************** was so concerned at the condition my lawn was becoming why not email me about it, or even call me. How about even mailing a letter if you are so concerned that EVERYTHING your technicians has done has done its job so perfectly. That even though through all the weed, feed and treatment of disease or grubs my lawn still died.
I would think the technician would bring to the attention of someone that Hey, Im doing everything I can and now the yard is just dirt
***** did point out that Dr ******************** cant be held responsible of all the thousands of lawns they care for
seriously? Yes, Dr ******************** should be held responsible because in the actual wording of all the flyers and mailings for the extra special deals that Dr ******************** wants to care for your lawn, or care for your trees and shrubs. How can ***************************** of my property be allowed to make it worse but say everything except what they did is wrong with my property. With the exception of whats living when they started to now whats dead all the same issues that Dr ********************s senior tech person listed, all the issues were consistent prior to hiring Dr ******************** in other words the trees the placement of bushes the kind of grass and pretty much everything else was living when they started caring for my property. If all the same constants of trees, sun, shade, placement, all were exactly that way and there was living lawn trees and shrubs even with the issues their expert said one year after they were hired to make my lawn better, to keep my lawn trees and shrubs alive
Attached are existing photos of parts of my yard. I was only allowed to attach up to 5.I do have some photos of my lawn in March 2024 but would need to be able to add more attachments.
Sincerely,
********* *********
. She told me on one email that there was nothing wrong with my lawn. Now she wont return any of my emails or phone calls. Ive asked for her supervisor or even an owner and Im told its not possible. There is something very wrong with this company. They are clearly stealing from customers. How any person could tell me all the services were done to my yard but yet why is it dead if it has no disease. Why is it that ***** wont return my calls. Why is it that **** was trying to get me mad on the phone so she could hang up. I used this company about 10 years ago. I was happy with their service then. But something illegal is going on where they take my money and do not treat or care for my lawn in any way. Please help me. I dont know what else to do. I have photos of prior to Dr ******************** and what it looks like now. Plus Ive been informed that there are now 40 mushrooms growing in the areas of dead grass. The mushrooms were not there when I reported my grass, trees, shrubs. But today **** yelled at me that Dr ******************** doesn't treat.
Sincerely,

Regarding your front yard, I want to take a moment to explain how St. Augustine grass grows, as it may help clarify the current condition of your lawn.
********************** is a sun-loving, warm-season tropical grass that spreads exclusively through above-ground stolons. These stolons generate micro-root systems that eventually develop into new tillers and daughter plants. Unlike other turfgrasses, St. Augustine does not propagate by rhizomes or seed heads. As such, its ability to regenerate and fill in bare spots is entirely dependent on healthy, mature stolon growth.
Mowing the grass too short inhibits the development of these stolons, preventing proper establishment of a dense, resilient root system. This becomes especially problematic during winter dormancy. Without a mature stolon "blanket" at the soil surface, the root system remains shallow and exposed to environmental stress. Even in ideal conditions, St. *********** **** system typically only reaches a depth of 1" to 1.6", making it particularly vulnerable during cold snaps.
While more shade-tolerant than *******, St. ********* still requires a minimum of 4 hours of direct sunlight or 68 hours of filtered light per day to thrive. Over time, tree canopy expansion and increased shading can drastically reduce the turfs health and density. Improper mowing heights and light deficiencies, when combined, severely limit the grass's ability to reproduce via stolons, which likely explains the thinning you've observed.
There is no indication of fungal disease or pathogen-related issues in your turf. However, there are signs of freeze damage, likely caused by prolonged ice or frost in shaded areas where sunlight is insufficient. Additionally, without a mature stolon layer to insulate and protect the root system, the grass is less capable of overwintering successfully.
Over the past several years, the **************** area has experienced a noticeable decline in ********************** due to colder-than-average *******. Being on the northern edge of this grasss ideal growing zone, our region poses unique challenges to its long-term viability. To maintain optimal health, ********************** should be mowed at a height of 3" to 3.6", measured from the soil line.
Regarding your red tip photinias and surrounding plant material, they show signs of overcrowding and competition for resources. The current spacing has allowed root systems to become entangled, particularly given their close proximity to the pool, patio foundation, and hollies. ************ with their hardwood root systems, have outcompeted the softer-rooted photinias for water and nutrients. As a result, the photinias have weakened over time and so have the hollies.
The presence of black spot fungus (likely Diplocarpon rosae or a related pathogen) is now systemic in the soil due to the decomposing infected leaves and will continue to affect plants in the rose family, including photinias. To help manage this, regular pruning and prompt removal of moist/wet fallen leaves is essential, as the disease spreads through decomposing organic material at the soil surface.
From an agronomic standpoint, Dr. ******************** has fulfilled its service obligations. That said, I remain committed to helping you achieve the healthy, thriving landscape you desire. Im happy to offer further guidance and support in any way I can.

We have advised the customer of what we are willing to do and can do along with recommendations on how to assist. Hello,
We did remove the grub charge however there is still a balance for the services that were actually completed of $119.30. I have attached the confirmation letter for review along with a updated statement.
Business Response
Date: 01/30/2025
When services were started the total amount to pay was ****** with tax. If you customer opted to prepay the amount would have been $279.59. Due to the customer not prepaying the $****** was divided over 7 months to break down to $44.38 per month. In order to get to this ******, one application was $67 and the others were $55 before tax. If you take 55 multiplied by 4 gives $220+ $67 is $267 then add 8.25% for tax of $23.67 totals $310.67. We received 4 payments of $44.38 totaling $177.52 and again based on the confirmation that was previously attached the customer was to be billed $44.38 over 7 months not 4. Since there has only been $177.52 received in payments minus the $****** would leave a negative balance or amount due of $133.17. Currently the balance is showing $119.30. The grub control charge was removed, and the balance is $13.87 less than what is should be. No additional updates or adjustment will be made on the account.Customer Answer

Hello,
The customer made a payment of $210 by check and later placed a stop payment on the check causing a balance on the account. The balance was incorrect and the current balance is $77.18. It was agreed in 2023 that the customer would pay half of the aeration and seeding that was done. That day 9/22/2023 $118.12 of the $236.25 was removed. The customer made a payment by check of $40.95 4/22/2024 leaving a balance of $77.18 due.

I am rejecting this response because: I made all my monthly payments and the free services were included in the monthly payments. I cancelled because the service was not acceptable and weeds were still there. Also when I complained, it took 3 weeks to respond. As a matter of fact they were willing to accept any amount for the extra charges. Im not going to get scammed by their false advertising.

Hello,
Attached is the confirmation letter that explains the terms and conditions and billing options. There were 5 applications done at $79 each. The only other service the customer is being billed for is grub and it states on the confirmation letter 5. If you cancel your service before the end of the program, you will be responsible for paying the cost of any free treatments received by Dr. ********************* For example, if you are offered a Free Grub Control as part of a spring promotion and cancel after getting the Free Grub Control, you will be billed for that. The customer only made one payment of $69.13 while having services.

Attached is the summary report from May 31 2024 stating "Today while walking the lawn I noticed several cracks in the soil, the lawn is very dry and needs water ASAP, the spot in the front is from heat stress and lack of water be sure you water the lawn ***** min per zone and 2-3 days a week 6am-10pm is the ideal time to water this will bring back the color and provide a thick healthy lawn. Also recommend not cutting these areas until you see that color start to come back. Thank you for choosing Doctor green as your trusted lawn care provider!" Also there is a picture attached of the location and area customer stated we burnt his lawn. Based on that photo there is no way we burnt that area. Hello,
I personally spoke with this customer on May *********. He originally called in about getting logged into the account online to make payment on the account.I advised him how to get logged in to the account. We verified the email address and all information to get him online. Once I assisted with that and sent a link to help login he advise of the issue with the lawn being burnt. I set a service call to be scheduled to assess the areas of concern and advised customer that we will be out to assess area. The area of concern was mainly against the perimeter of the home and is a s shape leading to his flower bed. Customer called 5/30/2024 to cancel the account due to not being scheduled at that time. Customer stated he would give the ********************** call until the next week to get someone out to assess the lawn. He called back 5/30/2024 about being scheduled for service and stated he didn't want the fert and weed control until lawn was assessed. I advised him that day that on the email to advise of service notification advises that it was for a service call to be done. The service call was scheduled for and completed on 5/31/2024 As of 6/5/2024, we called to follow up on the service call that was done. ******** stated no one called him however the information was emailed to him. We advised him of the notes and that the lawn was not burnt but suffering from heat stress and there were cracks in the soil. Customer called back June 13 to cancel the account. Stated he disagreed with our findings stating that he had other companies, and hadn't had a issues before. He called in today August 13 to discuss the account balance and I advised there will be no adjustments made to the account. Again I advised the customer there was no way we caused the burn at this home. Attached are photos from the april 30 visit where there was no issues with the lawn. If we burned it you would be able to tell right away. It would not take 2-3 weeks to appear. The balance will remain.

Hello,
Customer emailed in complaining about weeds and scheduling of services. We emailed customer and advised we will get someone out to treat for weeds, and advise we will have the lawn assessed for grubs. She replied back and stated:Hi,
Please don't send anyone. No one has been here since 5/31 and my lawn looks awful. Please cancel this service immediately and refund my money.Ebery.. As we were responding to the customer email she called in the cancel the account and we responded with:The services are a bit more spread out during the heat of the summer. The next application would've been scheduled any day. We do offer service calls to have the lawn assessed to see what we can recommend or do to assist further. I show we do a retreat at the beginning of the May along with another service at the end of May. Since we are out only every 4-8 weeks, we do need that communication from you if there is a problem that arises prior to the next service, and we can get someone out sooner. As was typing this email I see that you called in to cancel. I have to advise there will be no refund due. There were 4 applications along with liquid aeration which are $61 each and grub at $170. Per our terms and conditions any free service completed will be billed if the account is cancelled prior to the end of the season. Therefore, with services completed the total was $475. A total of $195.20 was paid leaving $279.80 to be deducted from any refund.---She then called in yelling and I explained that I would send the information over to have the summer application line item name updated. She stated it is 7 weeks, hence we are still within the time frame of 8 weeks to get services scheduled. She then requested to have services reinstated and started back. The account is currently active. There is no refund due if cancels or keeps account active.Business Response

Signed up with Dr. ******************** for my lawn care on 04/16/2023 for $317.00, for a complete suite of 7 weed & feed applications. The first application was scheduled on 04/19/2024. The service man arrived, and I went out and greeted him. He said he is going to start his work and asked me to get back in.I did so, and was watching him through the windows. He planted the advertising pole in my front yard, and backyard. Went back to his vehicle, sat inside for 2 minutes, and left.I called the customer ********************** immediately and complained. But, they were defending their employee by saying that they have satellite pictures of him applying the medicine to the lawn.I requested them to cancel my account, and for a full refund. Received an email confirmation of the cancellation immediately. On 04/23 I saw them refunding me $238.95 only. I'm not sure how they landed on this number when their invoice says $53 + $53 for the applications that was supposed to be performed but, was not. When I called them asking for a full refund again and learned that they have no intention of refunding.First and foremost, why would anyone cancel their service immediately after the first application? The only logical reason is that no application was performed and that was what happened. This is a complete scam of Dr. ********************.Business Response

The customer was refunded $268.95. This would include 53.10*2=106.20 minus the 10% processing fee for cancelling and having to refund of $26.55. Attached is the confirmation letter that outlines the terms and conditions regarding refunds and processing fee. Attached are also photos from the visit on 4/19/2024 and the summary report. Also attached is the truck tracking showing the tech was there on the lawn.

I used Dr. ******************** for a year. When it was time to renew someone from their office called me and I let them know we did not plan to renew because we were moving. On Feb 13, ************************************************ the hospital with my son who had heart surgery. I then got an invoice by email and explained to them that I cancelled the service and didn't want the treatment. Of course, I was not home to let them know when they arrived. I do not feel I owe this bill because I cancelled this service. They said they cannot find a recording of the conversation I had with their representative, but I don't feel that is my problem.Business Response
