    On today November 11, 2022 my sister and I went to Calumet Bakery as we do all year around for celebrations. We were being assisted by ****** and we had two separate orders. The manager *** begin to be very rude and attempt to make us rush our orders regardless to what we actually wanted and what we showed to ******. I asked The manager *** for another manager because of her tone and she kept repeating that she was the manager and she did not care what my concern was. I asked her for her full name to file a formal complaint and she told me that i need to go and since i asked her again she aggressively yelled you need to get these black m****F*****s out of here now. After the general manager **** came and tried to calm her down as well as my sister who began to come to my defense because *** was racist and rude towards me. It is very disheartening to be treated this way at a place that you and your family come to yearly for celebrations and it is disgusting that this person *** is the Manager for such a loving company. After this horrible racist experience we left the bakery and individuals who were i side the bakery at the time if the incident provided us with a video of *** calling us black Mfs we are very said about this and will be reaching out to every media outlet to showcase the mistreatment and racism still today towards black individuals. This is not the first time *** has treated people this way. Her employee stated during the incident that she is so tired of Any doing this to people and she hope she is dealt with. *** will tear down this business with her hate and once the video is played business with stop unfortunately. My family and I are requesting that this person *** is terminated immediately. No one deserves to be treated this way. No one. All lives matter.

    On June 2022 my fiance' and I sat with Calumet Bakery consultant ******. We placed an order with her for what we thought would be our beautiful delicious wedding cake for our big day. The cake we received was not what we were promised. The size of the cake was incorrect and the icing was not acceptable. As we began to stick the knife into the cake to cut it, there was something inside that prevented us from properly cutting a normal slice. It was embarrassing to say the least. We reached out to the bakery to speak with the individual whom took the order, we were told that she was not available. Each time we called the Calumet bakery, the consultant ******, was not available. Although we have spoken to someone there whom did not identify his title, he was not very professional, did not even take the decency or the time to apologize for any inconvenience that occurred. He did not seem to care that we were customers. We paid this bakery $300.00 plus to make our special cake. We Trusted this bakery to do what they said they would do. They seem not to care. As a matter of fact, the individual that came out to speak with my husband, said to my husband, "Why didn't you just bring the cake back". We were disgusted by that comment. What a horrible thing to say to anyone!!! We made the biggest mistake of our lives by going to Calumet Bakery and trusting them for our Special Day . We are requesting a refund, we did not receive what we were promised.

    Attached is the contract that the customer agreed to and paid on.
    They agreed to ivory buttercream icing, which they received. This was not fondant, and if they would have brought back a sample I would have shown them the difference. Also, they asked for a 7"+10" 2 tier cake, which is 2nd to the smallest cake we make for our weddings. Obviously it is one of the smaller cakes.
     
    Each venue is responsible for how they cut and serve the cake. If they had a problem with the cutting of the cake, they should've reached out to the venue. 

    I attached a picture of the contract and sketch they agreed on and the finished product. 

    We tried to help the customer out, but when I went out to talk to whoever it was, they got really upset when I asked for a picture of the cake or a sample. He even got in my face, which I did not appreciate, and started raising his voice plus started being disrespectful. At that point I did not want anything to do with that man. I was professional up until you get in my face. WE DO NOT tolerate that from anyone. 

    We delivered the cake that was agreed on. The size, frosting, color, and decoration matches the contract.

    I am rejecting this response because:
    To Whom it may concern,  On July 8, 2022 we purchased a wedding cake from Calumet Bakery.  Unbeknownst to us we did not think that they would send us the wrong cake, knowing that it was for a wedding venue.  There was so much thick icing on the cake and the flowers were much  too big and so many, that there was not room enough left on top to put the small Bride and groom on.  It was as if they wanted to disguise the fact that the cake was incorrect. Athough the cake arrived at our wedding venue we had no other alternative but to try to serve the cake which was loaded heavily with lots of icing.  When trying to cut into the cake,  something inside prevented the knife from entering. It felt like some object, was in the the cake and when cut, the thin cake began to fall apart. This cake did not serve 50 people as it was told to us upon ordering.  We specifically asked upon ordering which two parts of the cake would be prepared and they told us the lower and middle portion of the cake is what we would receive. However the portions of the cake they delivered to us was much much smaller than the cake we paid for.  Because of our ethnicity this man determined that he does not owe us an apology for delivering us a cake of such poor quality, and even though in the back of his mind he knew which cake we had ordered, he proceeded to deliver us a totally different cake and a lesser quality cake than what we paid for.  When I asked what was he going to do about the cake, he went to the back of the bakery, we assumed he went to get the order we had placed, but he came back to us without it and asked, if we had pictures. We responded to him yes we had pictures . And then asked him what was he going to do about the messed up cake. He then stood there in silence, and after he found out that we had no printed pictures in hand available at that moment he said to us he was not going to do anything about the messed up cake.  I said to him , you dont have to be rude about it . At this point the worker then went back behind the counter, and I said to him this is my first time here and it will be my last time here. He then  turned around and charged at me and his co-employees grabbed him as if to keep him from doing harm to me. I was so nervous and and shaken by the incident that I had to have someone else drive home. .. Now, how could he, saying, I got in his face, excuse him from returning my money to me , for his knowledge of a thrown together cake that was put together with heavy heavy icing to make the cake look bigger than it actually was by placing a lot of icing and large flowers on the cake to hide  the fact that the cake was incorrectly made for us.  How could he, knowingly deliver a wrong cake which I paid  $300. 00 for and he proceeded to deliver it to my wedding venue anyway. This man has not even apologized after knowing that he baked a wrong cake , and instead of correcting the known problem , he chose to ignore the fact that it was a special event. By delivering a cake of poor quality he ruined my special day.   Knowing my ethnicity he felt like he could get away with it.  I wish he would learn how to apologize to any paying customer.
