On Wed July 20th, my child was injured while in the care of ******* park district during summer camp while at "free time" with no adult supervision. He was provided with an ice pack and sent back outside to the activities even though he expressed being in excruciating pain and unable to lift his arm. I took him to the ** and later to the orthopedic whom released him back to regular activities with a brace for support. The local Blackhawk park location refused to accept the note and threatened to contact law enforcement if I did not pick up my child from camp due to "liability". They did not try to explain why the doctors note was not acceptable. When I attempted to speak to the camp about the facts of the incident, I was told "there are ***** kids to an adult & they can't watch all the kids at the same time. This was just an accident". Sadly this is negligence. If its too many kids to an adult, they need to invest in hiring more people or getting volunteers. I attempted to reach out to risk management by phone leaving a msg for ***** and ***** but no returned call was received. Contacted General manager ******************************* who cant explain why the doctors note wasn't accepted and has issued a pro rated refund to permanently remove my child from camp. Unfortunately hes the middle man looking to cover up the negligence and lack of supervision exercised by this camp with no real help or advocation of the true issue here. This camp allows racial disrespect towards African Americans between the kids. Attempted to speak to staff about this but no actions taken from their part. Today there's a separate incident involving physical altercation & throwing of rocks between campers. Obviously also unsupervised. The camp is being biased towards my child with no right to, being plenty has occurred in as little as 3 weeks yet everyone was allowed to return to camp but my child was removed because of a temporary injury even with clearance from a doctor.

    Hi,

Thank you for informing Park District Risk Management Agency (*****) of this complaint (#********). However, it appears the incident occurred at a ******* Park District facility and ******* Park District is not affiliated with, or a member of, the ***** intergovernmental risk pool. I suggest the complainant contact the ******* Park District Office of the Inspector General to file a complaint: https://www.chicagoparkdistrict.com/about-**/departments/office-inspector-general.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.

    Best,
