In Feb of this year, I discussed service with Mosquito ***. I also used their services last year. I was told that the product does not kill bees. I specifically asked this question because I have a large section of my yard dedicated to pollinators. I prepaid $591.36 on 2/26/24 for 8 applications to start Apr and end Sept. No contract was required. My initial service was delayed and someone finally sprayed on 5/8/24. I noticed a couple of dead bees near my pollinator flowers after the spray, and when the technician arrived for my 2nd spray on 5/31/24, I asked him before he started if the spray kills bees and that I had noticed a the dead bees after the 1st spray. He assured me face-to-face that, no, the spray only targets mosquitos and will not affect bees. Thinking then that perhaps the bees I saw were just old or sick, I let him go ahead with that *****. Over the next few days I observed zero bees in the pollinator area. I called the office on 6/18/24 to discuss prior to the 3rd spray. The gentleman I spoke with (not the owner but someone who is in the office fairly often) told me that, in fact, the oils of their product CAN kill bees, especially if they are doused with it. He explained that he was sorry I had been misinformed by multiple employees, incl the owner when I signed up in Feb. I told him that I just couldn't have their product applied anymore given the environmental disaster they are creating. He assured me I could get a refund in the amount of $443.52 for the 6 remaining sprays I would not be getting. He told me to call back in 2 weeks if I decided that is what I wanted to do. I called back on 7/3/24 and asst **** was informed about the bee issue and said she didn't blame me for requesting a refund and that she would talk to the owner. No followup so spoke w/ **** again 7/10, the owner was out and that she would talk to him. I again heard nothing and called back 7/22 and was again given the same runaround. **** spoke to me like I was in the wrong.

    Business Response

    Date: 08/07/2024

This is the first time we are receiving this complaint.  Please be advised our current business address (for the last 5 years) is:   ****************************************************

We dispute the account of ********************--for example, I (the owner) did not speak to her about her service at any time this year.  I did email the customer on July 23 responding to her complaint and refunded $423.36 to her on that same that date via check.   She was refunded the amount she paid minus the price of the two treatments she received prior to canceling service.

    Thank you

I am rejecting this response because the entire refund amount due to me has not been provided. I am due an additional $20.16.

I prepaid $591.36 for 8 treatments but received 2 treatments (which decimated the pollinator population).

    $591.36 / 8 = $73.92 per treatment

    $73.92 + $73.92 = $147.84

    $591.36 - $147.84 = $443.52

    I was only refunded $423.36.

    $443.52 - $423.36 = $20.16

    I am still owed $20.16.

I was not "refunded the amount [she] paid minus the price of the two treatments she received prior to canceling service".

It is regretful the owner will not acknowledge his employed product can, in fact, kill pollinators, which is contrary to what is promoted. His office staff even acknowledge that fact on the phone.

It is also regretful the owner provides no apology for the grief and trouble he has caused me.

    Sincerely,
