We hired Lovitt & Sons to grind out and tuckpoint a home we bought at the end of June. At the time we were really impressed with *****. He seemed on the ball and super excited about the job. We were so impressed with him that when he expressed about getting other quotes, we assured him we wouldnt. Now, 4 months in, we realize that was the first of many mistakes we made in trusting Mr. *********************** For starters, he said he only wanted to do the work on our home himself. He said that it needed to be perfect and he trusted no one else to do the job. This is surprising because the only worker he brought to the house was actually his worst employee. He also originally quoted us $96,000, which is literally 3x higher than any other quote weve now gotten. After starting the job he proceeded to grind out 3/4 of the homes mortar, this was months ago. Our home still remains largely ground out. This is a huge problem because it exposes the structure to all sorts of serious water damage. We also paid him $35,000 already, which is the same as the highest quote weve gotten from anyone else. Then after grinding out the entire house, ***** would come by, sporadically and randomly tuckpoint sections of the home. Its like a bad patchwork quilt. Then once he would tuckpoint an area, he would acid wash it. This ruined the color of the mortar. He also did a horrible job grinding and left black stains all over the bricks because he would brush it while the mortar was still wet. He also said that once everything was done he would go back and pop out the bad bricks and replace them. This doesnt make sense. Finally we said enough was enough and fired him. We are now having to find someone to fill in all thats ground out and in the spring, we are having everything he did reground and retuckpointed. Hiring him was the biggest and most costly mistake weve made so far.
