On Sunday May 7th My car was stolen from TJmax(my place of employment.) parking lot in Carbondale, illinois. Police report was filed from Carbondale Police Dept.

Long story short, car was found/located that same night in Cambria, illinois located in a vacant trailer lot behind the Dollar General store. Upon learning of the news on Monday May 8th the reporting officer in Carbondale told me that Vernells towing service in Marion, illinois had towed the car and that i could pick it up on Tuesday May9th after it had been processed...

Upon calling Vernells in Marion they told me the bill was 914 dollars because they had to bring in "special equipment" and that it was 1000ft offf the roadway buried in Mud in a field and "that" it took 3 hours to recover...Not only was i very upset that my car was stolen, i was now besides myself that i now had an additional towing bill of almost 1000 dollars and that the car would be totally trashed and wrecked from it being STUCK and BURIED in a field...From the way they described it to me, My car would not be worth recovering...Its a 2000 Buick Lesabre with liabilty insurance ONLY which does not cover the towing exapense..

After learning from where the car was towed from i decided to go there and have a look..Upon arriving there it was nothing like they described ,,
It was on a flat lot only a hundred ft. from the main road sitting on a flat lot, with only one set of tire track and NO ruts in ground..It looks like they simply drove the car to the road at the poing where they hooked it to the wrecker...Yes, it looks as if the car could of simply been drove to the road on it own power...I then went to Vernells and looked at My car..It wasnt Muddy or anything...Upon My surprise it was just how i left it...After explaining this to them and a small dispute i got them to LOWER the bill down to 800 dollars, which is still WAY TOO MUCH..I was somehow able to come up with the 800 dollars, but it left me Pennyless, for i dont have alot of money

The police report and our report show the vehicle was found at **** ******** *** *********** **** *****.  That is in the middle of a field.  This is the location we were called to recover the vehicle.  We have a itemized bill which we will upload copies of.

I am rejecting this response because:

Because it was NOT in the middle of a field and i will be more than happy to prove that....If you look on google Maps you can clearly see that a Double Wide Trailer USED to sit  on the property..There is a field Behind the property but My Car was on the property NOT in the field and was not STUCK in any kind of mud or anything..Car could of simply drove off the property on its own power...

The pictures i provided show the roadway in the "vacant lot" where my car was found...

Im only asking for a "partial refund" and i would be happy with that...Can you request a partial refund...Like 1/2 back..

      Sincerely,

      **** ******

Car was towed on Friday night 3-17-23. Now the complaint is that for one I called this company and they wouldnt tell me if my car was there why Im not sure. It had been there for at least 6 hours at this point so they definitely had knowledge of it. They run a 24 hour towing company but the actual yard they run closes on the weekend? even tho the police had released the car I couldnt go to work Sunday night because my car was locked at a 24 hour towing company thats closed only to retrieving your car not closed to towing it all weekend though? *** if you want your car you cant get it for two days! Now the next issue is payment they are forcing ** to pay for the days they refused to let ** get our vehicle how? I want to know how it is legal to keep a persons car at a tow yard for any amount of time other than what police have issue as a hold time. Also how is it you keep somebodys vehicle and charge them for it and they are trying to pay to get it out you just wont walk across from the service station To the tow yard and do the paperwork? Seems like a scam to me
