I was called by my DON, ***** *******, following the question of "can I come back to work with weight restrictions if my physician allowed?" to my ADON on October 21st, 2022. My ADON did let me know she would talk with the administrator about it. The physician wrote a note allowing me to return to work October 24, 2022 with 10 pound weight restrictions and a few other requirements. ***** ******* called me on October 26th, 2022 at 1716 regarding returning to work. I was denied work due to my weight restrictions without trying to accommodate me. I was told since they are too short staffed that they couldn't work with my restrictions. Taking vitals, assisting with admits, and assessing patients would have a been a few things I believe I could have done. At this time I had already been denied short-term disability through this facility. DON was aware of the denial, and told me that she was surprised because she hasn't known someone to be denied for a hysterectomy. I appealed the insurances decision, but I was denied once again on November 17th 2022. I feel as if I was discriminated against. This put me out of work which in turn kept me from receiving a check to pay for bills, other living expenses, caused stress while I was trying to heal, and I felt I was treated unfairly. I had signed FMLA papers to save my job also before taking my medical leave. I did end up quitting because I felt I wasn't treated the way I deserved, and I did notify the facility.
