My complaint is my utility company is over charging people knowing our governor has made it clear poor families are supposed to be paying lower utilities. I am fighting disability & i have a child who is on disability & i have a toddler. The school actually considers my kids & i homeless due to my situation. I live in a tiny house on *** ***** property. She is my landlady & she is 81 years old & she gets retired pay threw ssi. So we are on a very small income. The utilities put a shut off notice on my door almost 2 weeks ago for $155 which was Novembers bill. They find out i am going to E.R.B.A for help & last week i recieved a utility bill for $1,235.35. Thats means i was charged almost $600 for dec & $500 for jan. I cannot survive with my city hall not following orders from the governor of this state. We will not be able to live that way or we wont have utilities. They over charge everyone who they think have money. I have ptsd, anxiety & depression. So the utility ladies are extremely rude to customers including myself. They need to go to a class to be taught manors & respect especially towards the elderly. I am also gonna contact elderly abuse about this situation to. It's getting to far out of hand with this utility company being owned by the city. We need ****** as an option in our city.

The resident has sought out federal assistance in the past when she has needed help paying her bills. She did not reach out in November, or December of 2022, or January of 2023. She also did not pay the due amounts. She was given a shut off notice due to it being 3 months past due, and she did not reach out to the company asking for assistance. She did meet with them on January 10th and they pledged to cover $1,000, and her shut off notice was rescinded.
