Hello,My upstairs bathroom pipes froze and when they thawed the sink drained and the water came up into the tub.I called ********************************** to come out and evaluate and repair, he arrived on January 16, 2023. When I asked how much he had to analyze the situation. He snaked the tub and kitchen sink. He charged $300 for both. When I bathed the downstairs bathroom ceiling leaked profusely. I called ***************** and told him what happened and he returned on January 28.He said he would open a hole in the ceiling, but he opened two. He said that the pipes weren't leaking but the pump on my whirlpool was at fault and charged me another $150.He said he would price some pumps and get back to me. I asked when was he going to close the holes he made, said he doesn't repair the holes he makes and I would need to hire someone who does that work. I called him several times to repair the holes and he finally answered and came back on February 1st. He angrily placed two cardboards over the holes with duct tape. When I asked when would he repair he said he would price the pump. After trying to reach ***************** several times, I realized he had blocked my calls. I used my home maker's phone and he picked up immediately. I let him know that the tub was still leaking even if I didn't turn on the pump.I haven't heard from him yet. I am a 68 year old senior breast cancer survivor. I also live alone. I feel like he has taken advantage of me. Will you please help, I am afraid to take baths because the tub still makes the 1st floor ceiling leak.

    Business Response

*************************** called me about drain blockage in her tub and kitchen sink. I rodded both drains and they were both successfully unclogged. She acknowledged that it was draining properly and thanked me for my service. She latter sent me a text saying how I was and excellent plumbing and a amazing honorable man.

A few weeks later she called about a leak from tub to downstairs ceiling. When I came back to access the problem I told her I had to open ceiling to locate the leak with my camera. The ceiling had already been damaged by the water and I told her it would need to be replaced because of the water damage. Because the damage was not any fault of mine I charged her a fee for locating the new problem. If it was the fault of the rodding I would not of charged her. I told her I would not fix the ceiling because it was badly water damage and would need to come out.

I am rejecting this response because:
I called originally for him to diagnose and, if reasonable repair the tub and upstairs bathroom sink problem. He rodded the tub and said that the problem was the tub was stopped up. I then told him about the kitchen sink and asked how much to do both? He said he had to see if he could fix it first then he would tell me how much. He rodded the kitchen sink. He then told me $300 and I had no choice but to pay him.

I sent him the text stating that he was a good man because he told me about a product that would keep my pipes open so I would not have to go through this experience again. I thought he was an honorable person and would not try to take advantage of a senoir. I was wrong. When he returned after I sent him the text he seemed like a different person and was disingenuous. My bathroom ceiling had light water damage, nothing that took away from the overall attractiveness of the room.

I had no idea he was going to cut two huge holes in the ceiling and not repair the damage HE made! Otherwise I would have said no, find another way to troubleshoot. The worse part is he claims that the problem was the whirlpool pump that he didn't repair.  For the honor a whopping charge of $150 more. I guess after he came out the first time and saw that I am a senior woman living alone, with a bad sense of judging character, that I was ripe for the picking.

I don't feel it's fair or just that I spend $450 and is worse off than when I first called him. The tub still leaks into the first floor bathroom ceiling, which didn't happen until after he 'fixed ' the problem.

    Sincerely,
