Kaiser Brothers Electric assessed an issue with the fuse box at my house. **** determined that the fuse box needed to be replaced. He said the issue was urgent and that the fuse box issues were caused by a storm. I asked **** for a quote, but he said he would have to write that up and recommended that I run it through my insurance company. (The typical cost for this job is $2,500 max.)He told me he was an approved vendor for State Farm and that this would be covered.**** told me that I would need to pay $1,000 and he would get started, and that everything else could get sorted out later. He did not send me a receipt. I asked him for the invoice.I submitted all documents, invoices, etc. for various storm-related damages to my insurance company. I informed them of the fuse box, but did not provide an invoice because I had not received it.**** never provided a description of what he said was done. He also never provided an invoice. He knows this is a rental property and I live out of state. I was not present during the work.**** said he would write up an invoice after I sent him the check from the insurance company. The adjuster told me they had received the invoice that I sent in from Kaiser Brothers Electric. However, I had never sent State Farm an invoice from Kaiser Brothers Electric.I never authorized ****, nor Kaiser Brothers Electric to bypass me and send an unapproved invoice to my insurance company. **** also did not tell me that he had done so.The adjuster told me that the invoice they received was for $10,000, which is 4x what is expected. I contacted insurance fraud attorneys and the police. The company:Sent an unapproved invoice to my insurance company without my knowledge nor consent.Tried to obtain money for an invoice I did not approve.Tried to scam me into paying them 4x the maximum acceptable amount for their work, by bypassing me and requesting monies directly from my insurance company.
