I wanted triple service to upgrade the electrical to my garage (not attached to my house). They gave me an estimate (only a verbal amount) and told me I had to pay half upfront. My dad was actually at my house when they were here to do the estimate (charged me $49). I did talk to them on the phone and was only told they would need to get a bunch of supplies. I paid half the amount upfront to get the project going. I repeatedly asked for an itemized bill and never received one. I talked with a few friends who have had a project like my done and they said they paid $1000 not the $4300 I am being quoted. I again asked for an itemized bill and was sent a very general form that doesn't have detailed information on it. I then called them to cancel since they won't provide me with details. They said I would have to pay a restocking fee ($124.25), the wire was a supposed special order ($382.40 plus ***** tax) and $250 for labor. I will pay for the wire and the restocking fee if they can prove that it costs that much. I should not have to pay for labor on a job that was never done. When I called to cancel I was told that company policy is that they do not supply itemized bills.

Project was to trench in new conduit and 100 amp electrical service to the garage and install a new panel with a car charger outlet. It was not to simply run a wire to the garage. THe project was approved and a down payment was accepted. Non stocked materials were ordered for the job and some of which consisted of NON stock wire Specially cut for this project. This wire is not returnable to our supplier. This is what we are asking to get paid for the time spent on the initial evaluation for the project. We are NOT asking for payment on the materials that we have acquired for the project that are also not stock items for us. Nor are we asking for payment for the time spent ordering and receiving the materials that are non stock items for the project that has been cancelled. We are NOT a supply house or a hardware store and do not typically sell parts or materials over the counter so there is not a standard practice in our business for situations like this. The person in question that has told the customer this project should be $1000 is a family member of hers and NOT a licensed contractor or to our knowledge a licensed electrician so how can that possibly a accurate comparison? We are accepting and understanding that she wants her family's help which is why we are only asking for compensation on the minimum amount that we cant return or recoup.

I am rejecting this response because:  I know that you are over charging me because I have spoken to 10 people who have had this exact same thing done (they live in ******* or in the Chicago area).  9 of those people all paid between $1000 and $1500 and were all done by licensed electricians.  The other person paid $2500 because they have a brick patio and had to have a special machine that could dig a hole for the wire under that patio.  I have a very hard time believing that it costs $250 in labor to order and recieve parts for this job.  Again I am asking for receipts so I can see the cost for myself.   I have had triple service do all my work on my house for the last 6 years and felt I could trust this company.  Unfortunately I have learned the hard way that I can't.

    Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because:  They are just repeating themselves and not answering the request for proof of the cost they are charging me.

When ****** authorized over the phone that she wanted the work to be done, she had already been emailed and opened the Estimate for the job. She was adamant about getting the job done right away as weather was going to cause the ground to freeze and part of the job was trenching. The day before the job was set, is the first time she requested an itemized bill. Being a long time client, I am sure she is aware that we don't have itemized billing, we have task pricing for each job. Since she canceled the job the day before we were set on the schedule, we already had the wire, connections, piping all necessary items for the job. Even the trencher coordinated and on reserve. We explained that the ONLY thing we would ask to have paid for is the cut wire for the job that was custom (as the job information stated) to her home. The restocking fee that we get charged on the rest. The $49 dispatch fee is to get my electrician to the job, doesn't pay for the time spent on the job. The additional labor we requested was the time to return in order to mark out the job, which is required by law before you dig or trench, with paint/flags for the ********** to locate the property. When someone wants to challenge our integrity then I would also hope they are the kind of person who we can trust their word, but such is not the case here. I have refunded her whole deposit and want nothing from this client.
