I have a 60" Hustler Zero Turn lawnmower. About the 1st of July, it started smoking and my son took it to be repaired at Cherry Small Engine in Mendota. Upon the guy looking at it, he totld my son and I that ait needed a new motor and he woulddo it for $3,000. I told him NO that I would NOT pay that much for a new motor. He roceeded to talk to my son and told him he could possibly get it to work for the rest of the year. The guy did NOT ever call me to discuss the lawnmower. He had the lawnmower for two (2) months. I call him a few times asking the status of the work. NEVER did he tell me a price for the reair, just that the parts were ordered. On August 29th, my son brought the mower to my house and gave me a bill for $634.44. At the bottome of the bill, he had written--"Do not be surprised if engine fails within the first hour!" I DID NOT authorize him to put that much money into the mower. I went to Cherry Small Engine on August 30th and spoke with the guy. I asked him to exp;ain to me the bill and why I would pay $634.44 for an engine that will NOT work. He just looked at me and told me that he said that it needed a new motor. I explained that I would NOT pay for that and he should have called me before doing any repairs to this mower. He said that he spoke with my son and I told him that the mower was MINE and NOT my sons'. I told him that it as poor business to repair a lawnmower and then charge $634.44 and NOT have it work. I spoke with an attorney and could take him to SMall Claimes court for more money. I used the mower on September 4th, and made it for two (2) passes in my yard and the mower completely STOPPED. I do NOT believe that this is good business to take someones' money for a job that was not done properly or authorized by myself as it was MY lawnmower. I have a copy of the receipt that I will download. This is VERY POOR business. I would like to get my money back and he can have his parts from the mower that does NOT work.
