Saw their ad on their website advertising a fully service low hour 2007 John Deere lawn mower. Called them and was told it was a very nice machine. I have been looking for and that was the closest I could find. I paid top dollar and another $1000 to have it shipped. They gave the delivery driver the wrong phone number so I was not there when they delivered it. It was running on 1 cylinder because it had a bad head. When that happens in a mower, you cant turn on the mowing deck. Upon closer inspection, the hour meter was new and that is why it had low hours showing. It has so many issues wrong with it. I have been working on it for a week and have spent a pile of money on parts. It has well over 2000 hours on it. I tried contacting the dealership and was told they could send a head and that he has been at that dealership since he was 8 years old and that he sent me a good running machine. Ok then why are you sending me a head? J*** ***** can not do anything to them because they are an independent dealership. Its been over a week now and the head still has not arrived. What they did by misrepresenting the condition of this machine was unethical.

Cross Implement is a Single Store John Deere Dealer in Minier Illinois. We are family owned and operated with my father starting the store in 1978. My father, sister, two sons and I work at the dealership. My perspective is unique in that how we treat people is a reflection on my family. With this said we are no more perfect than the customers we serve. In an average year we will sell over 1000 pieces of equipment. We sell a wide variety of products from lawn mowers up to large farm equipment. This is not meant to boast, but to provide perspective of scale relative to this issue. We serve a large variety of customers and strive to create positive experiences regardless of the size of the transaction or location. This customer elected to purchase a 17-year-old mower sight unseen. While not uncommon, we encourage customers in our advertising to come inspect equipment prior to purchase so they can evaluate the condition of the unit for themselves as opinions vary. The unit had been serviced in our shop by an experienced John Deere Certified Technician and I personally rinsed the mower off prior to loading on the truck. The customer called after receiving the product and claimed it to be running on one cylinder. I found this hard to believe as neither my salesperson, technician or I noticed this prior to shipping. The customer stated he needed a head with the valves to resolve the issue and he could install the head if we shipped it to him. I acquiesced in effort to create resolution and ordered the parts from John Deere for a head along with valves and misc parts. When we received the parts we assembled them and shipped them UPS to the customer. While we were waiting for the head parts the customer contacted us and wanted us to provide an open checkbook for him to go through the mower and replace parts as he saw fit. I did not see this as reasonable and did not agree. For perspective the customer paid roughly 1/3 the value of an equivalent new unit for this used mower. While we do inspect and service our used equipment, the unit is still in used condition after our work and advertised as such. Below is a copy of the advertisement for the mower the customer contacted us off of for reference. *************************************************************************************************** 07 737 60" ?
