    Business Response

The problem they are having stems from the subfloor that dips along where the home owner installed their own shower base.   There is a dip in the subfloor where it meets the tub base, and therefore the floating (not bonded to subfloor) lvt flooring moves up and down when stepped on.  The caulk joint where the lvt meets the shower base breaks loose due to this movement in the floor when stepped on.  The home owner elected to save money and install their own subfloor and perform any necessary subfloor prep themselves before we arrived.  The home owner was not charged for new subfloor install or subfloor prep.  Our installer also brought this to the home owners attention, and additional floor prep for a cost was declined by the home owner at that time.  I explained to drive out to their rural area to fix the issue, there would be a cost as we are not financially responsible for issues that are caused by the scope of work the home owner agreed to take on themselves.
