Date of the transaction: June 15, 2024 Deposit $1,000.00 given, Cashed check copies attached.QC Jet Works agreed to a FULL REBUILD of my 2017 ******* 1.6L turbo engine. The business originally estimated 2-3 week for the engine rebuild, and now it been almost 7 months. The business commonly sites that they are waiting on parts and that they are very busy. There is never any attempt to voluntarily update progress their with me. Far too many times when I try to communicate, it gets ignored. The business has not tried to resolve this issue as I am still waiting and they are still putting me off and/or not replying to me. I have been excessively patient. This experience is costing me much more than an engine rebuild at this time.

im responding to this report, this item has been completed and customer has picked the engine up, there was a huge back order on parts, the customer as notified of this, sometimes this happens. unfortunatey the customer text our shop phone and didnt get a reply on an update fast enough,  texting is not the best way to reach out to a business at least here anyways , we are very busy and dont always check text, as seen in the screen shots of the text the engine has been picked up and the customer shows no signs of being unhappy .  please  remove this complaint ,

I am rejecting this response because:

First, I am not sure why there was said to be a problem with my texting ******* That is the only number I have saved for him, which he gave me, and 95% of our communications were done this way. Clearly from his screen shots, this is his cell phone and not an office phone.

I knew there was a problem when I picked the engine up. But due to being without it for so long and the distance I drove, I needed to take it with me and deal with the outcome later.

This engine was not completed as discussed. I hired QC Jetworks for a full rebuild, not a "just get it running". There are many issues.

The pistons were not replaced as he said he was waiting for them for so long. They were wire brushed off and reinstalled. They have the original factory etched markings which also show they are installed backwards. We know the cylinders were not bored .5mm oversize either. Don't know if there are new rings installed but the cylinders definitely do not look honed. I will have to break this engine down now and start over.

I also performed a cylinder leak down test. The results were horrendous. Normal results are no more than 5-10% for a rebuilt engine, 20% or more on a running engine means there is a problem. My results are 28%, 81%, 79% and 71%. The test was performed properly and repeated with the valve cover off to verify the camshaft was not holding the valves open.

Speaking of valves not closing, the valve tappet clearances were not adjusted properly. 10 are in spec or very close to spec, 6 need to be adjust with 2 of them grossly out of spec. Only 2 valves were replaced even though the receipt says 4. the others all still have carbon buildup on them and should have been sand blasted.

I have rebuilt many engines in the past, and while the engine is clean, the follow through cannot be trusted. The engine has to be gone through again as I don't believe it will run in it's current condition. I have no idea what the real reason for the delays were, because it wasn't for pistons. I can get valves delivered to my house by the weekend for less than $20 each. I will be evaluating and reporting on what exactly was replaced and what I was lied to about, and it will be verified by a licensed mechanic, just because.

At this point I am out far more than was gained. It is time for a refund.

    Sincerely,
