My wife dropped off 2 panel of drapes to be cleaned and pressed at the local dry cleaners Sparks Drive In.These drapes are cloth with a rubberized backing These drapes were picked up and bill of $40 was paid. When the drapes were hung up larger areas of the backing was gone and is quite apparent when light goes through the drapes At no time was my wife advised the drapes are difficult to clean or this may be an issue to clean and press. At no time when the drapes were picked up did anyone at the shop indicate the backing had been damaged during the cleaning/pressing process. The clerk merely charged the $40 and gave my wife the drapes. The owner offered to refund $20 (50%) which was declined. The owner claimed this is not his fault rather a somewhat normal issue with this type of drapery. I would agree but feel as a cleaning professional it should have been explained when the drapes were brought to the shop. I would also think the shop clerk should have shown the damage the occurred to the drapes when they were picked up.It seems the shop failed to notify my wife of the danger of cleaning this type of drapes before attempting to clean and most certainly shown the damage hat occurred while the drapes were in the shops care , custody & control On 2 occasions we were offered a 50% refund but declined. It seems incredible a shop would not explain the potential issues when dropped off and equally incredible the damage was not shown when the items were picked up
