Around July 2023, all financial documentation and paperwork had been completed by the bank, Mt. Vernon Dream Home and me and I paid the required $3,800 down payment. Mt. Vernon Dream Homes commitment was that they would go to the property and assess where the home would go and then go to the city and get the permit and get started leveling off the property and putting down the foundation. They committed that the home would be delivered and set up by September 30, 2023. In August *******, Mt. Vernon Dream homes contractor, ************************* was at the property, located at ******************************************************************************************************************************** installing the home's foundation. While in the process, he then abruptly stopped working without my consent or knowledge. From that day to this date, I have not received ANY communication from Mt. Vernon Dream Homes nor the bank, 21st Century Mortgage where I financed the home, I've not received back my $3,800 deposit, neither written, verbal, in person, phone calls, etc. There has not been an explanation as to why they did not complete the set up and installing the home as our contract stated.

    Business Response

    Date: 09/12/2024

In July 2023, our site inspector met with the customer to assess the location where the home was to be placed. Based on this, we sent our contractor to begin preparing the foundation. During the process, a city inspector visited the property and informed us that the proposed site was too close to the neighboring property line, making it non-compliant with local regulations. As a result, we immediately halted work in accordance with the city officials instructions.

While the customer's property was suitable for the home, it needed to be relocated to a different section of the lot, which required clearing trees and brush. Our contractor provided the customer with an estimate for this additional work, but the customer chose to handle the land clearing personally, opting to rent equipment instead of using our services.

Following this decision, we made multiple attempts over the subsequent weeks to contact the customer and check on the progress of the land clearing. The customer responded that the work had not yet been completed and stated they would notify us once it was done. After an extended period without hearing further updates, a family member of the customer contacted us to inform us that the customer would no longer be proceeding with the project due to health issues.

In an effort to confirm this decision, we attempted to reach the customer directly, but unfortunately, our calls were not returned. We then contacted the family member to confirm the correct mailing address for refunding the down payment. Our records indicate that a check was sent to the customer, minus the cost of foundation materials already delivered to the property. However, the check appears to have never been deposited.

We remain willing to issue a stop payment on the original check and send a replacement, pending confirmation of the correct mailing address. Additionally, should the customer wish to resume the project, we are fully prepared to continue with the installation.

We strive to maintain clear communication and customer satisfaction, and we are ready to resolve this matter promptly upon receiving further information from the customer.
