10/18/2024 Security deposit issues Original deposit 1462 Amount held ******* Amount returned to me ****** My complaint is regarding wrongful deductions from my security deposit I was charged for normal ware and tear.I rented an apartment for 3 years at River Run at Naperville my apartment was an original and was told the reason it was lower rent then others was due to my unit being one that the unit was last updated in 2018 in comparison to the others that were recently updated around 2020, and due to the timing of my need to move in and the end of the previous tenants lease they would not be able to update, I was in total agreement with knowing this, due to the short time from when they moved out and I moved in which was at most a week I signed my lease with the knowledge of knowing I would not be able to view the unit prior to moving in which again I was absolutely ok with due to the urgency of needing to get a place quickly. During my lease I can say I have not had many issues a few that were resolved easily, now that I decided not to renew my lease ending 9/20/2024 i had ran into issues regarding the return of my deposit. I requested a detailed statement of the deductions and seen that 2 of the charges were of large amounts that I did not understand when I asked about them I was given their explanation. The 2 charges that I still dont understand was Carpet (they stated they lost 2 years of the 5 year lifespan but I lived there 3 years and that carpet was not replaced prior to my move in which would make it at the very least 4 years old they deducted ****** and resurfacing of appliances 359 stating rust but send photos of what appears to myself as oxidation and is not something that is in my control. They told me the carpet gets pulled out and cleaned every time a tenant moves out and they sent photos showing stains under the carpet and that was why I was charged one photo they sent was not even my unit so now I question if any photos were from my unit
