    I had a $85 hold put on my card while I made a transaction for $25 at this location. They are not releasing the funds back and it has been over 17 hours

    The customer had a complaint on a hold on his debit card. At our gas station and all gas stations when you pre-pay for fuel, card issuers hold money until the transaction is complete. Card issuers and banks sometimes hold that money up to 3 to 5 days. It is not the gas station that is holding the money. It is the card issuer. Within one day, the customer received their money back from the card issuer. Again neither Shell nor our gas station had the money. In addition, shell is the one who processes our credit cards so if there was an issue with his credit or debit card, it would be with Shell. But again, neither Shell nor our gas station had the money. It was being held by his card company. This is common practice on any type of prepaid purchase and the credit card industry is highly regulated and held accountable by the government.
