    On Sunday, December 24th between 10:30-10:45 a.m. I went into Indy Smoke Shop on College Avenue in Normal, Illinois to return a pen battery that did not work. The battery was purchased on December 23rd and stopped working. I told the store clerk that the battery did not work according to my son, and that I needed to return it. He then responded with an attitude, "I can't take this back, nothing I can do, and it works." Not understanding much about how the battery began working, I proceeded to ask for a resolution to the problem. This store clerk began yelling at me, while using some very disrespectful language.

    My mom and son and some customers witnessed his interaction with me. He then began taunting me by saying "why are you mad, why are you mad?" "Why do you talk to me like that?" Honestly, I am not sure what he was talking about, I was upset because he approached me with an attitude and was unwilling to hear anything I had to say. The store clerk continued to aggravate the situation, as though he was trying to start an altercation with me. As he was constantly saying "why are you mad, why are you mad," he continued to have a smirk on his face, as though he was enjoying the altercation.

    I left the store, and my mom and son took over the situation. I learned that this store clerk continued to talk rudely about me, after I left the store in front of my son, mom and other customers. He was reported saying "I am tired of people coming in here with their F*****in attitudes. I did not appreciate him constantly talking about me in front of my family and people I did not know. To me, this was very disrespectful and showed very poor customer service.

    As a woman, and more so a black woman, I felt uncomfortable, disrespected, and as though I was being verbally attacked. This complaint is more about the poor treatment and the lack of customer service I experienced by this store clerk within this store.

    This case should remain open, as the clerk did not refund me the money on the battery. which was $10.19, this plus his attitude and lack of customer service should keep this case open, I did want an apology, I no longer care, I want my refund of $10.19 and I want the clerk's attitude addressed, as I will continue to keep this complaint going.

    I think it is poor that this company failed to respond to this complaint, it just shows that the complaint I made was valid and that they care nothing for their customers.  I will continue to tell others about my experience with this particular location, as they are rude and refuse to take responsibility for their actions.
