Our dog, ****** had some stomach issues so we took him to this vet on Friday morning. We got a call that afternoon that ****** had cancer & needed to be put down TODAY. Dr ******************** decided it wasnt important enough to stick around so left for the day(2:45). Their ofc mgr put us in a room & told us that if she got the news that we just did, she too would euthanize her pup. I asked if I could speak to the vet and she said he was gone & heading out the next day for vacation. I insisted she get him on the phone! In the meantime, they brought us ******. He was not on his last leg & clearly not in pain. They brought me a cell phone where I proceeded to ask all the questions. ******************** finally said, I dont have his labs back yet so not sure how to answer. My mind was blown that he wanted to kill my dog, assume he had cancer and couldnt even be there in person! We decided to take him home & bring him back on Mon when labs were back. He quickly said if we dont race him to the specialist in ***, then we are basically crappy dog parents. The guilt trip that ******** ofc mgr tried to put on us was less than professional & unwarranted. We get a call on Saturday that ****** may have PLE(Protein Losing Enteropathy) which the vet admitted he has never heard of but come to find out by more reputable vets, is common in Yorkies & can be controlled by ******************* We then plan to have an ultrasound on Monday to see if there is an underlying cause of PLE, such as cancer. When we brought ****** in on Monday, I had more questions. The nurse said I havent studied PLE in 12 years since I was in school. Who takes on a client so unprepared?! We got the results back and there are no signs of cancer. We brought him to a specialist and even the steroid dosage this clinic gave us was incorrect! Good thing I didnt kill my dog because this vet had other places to be & didnt want to be bothered. Since making my story public, 7 other families have shared similar horror stories, so sad!
