      On February 11 of 2020, my husband and I attended a single counseling session together as a couple. The services themselves were fine, what we would expect, however, The provider wanted to know whether we would like to **** insurance or pay out-of-pocket for a visit and I told them that we did have insurance that we did expect would cover this, however they were welcome to take payment and refund us in the event that insurance reimbursed. The provider charged my *********** credit card for $175, the cost of a session out of pocket. Shortly there after, the pandemic hit, my husband was laid off and our insurance lapsed briefly. We never went to innovative counseling partners again. This past January, 2022, I received an explanation of benefits from ********** Blue Shield, our insurer at the time of the session. The explanation of benefits showed that innovative counseling partners had billed our insurance and been paid out by our insurance in addition to charging us out-of-pocket. I have called at least three times to request that I be refunded the $175 we paid for our session and each time, I have been told that someone would follow up. No one has ever followed up. I ended up writing a yelp review and realized that several other people have reported double billing. At a minimum I would like a full refund for the one session we attended in addition to an apology from this business, but Im considering writing the ******** state Attorneys General because A number of complaints for double billing sounds like fraud.
